Municipal Election 2006
Are You on the Voters List?
It is the responsibility of the elector to ensure that their name is
on the Voters List. Beginning September 5th, 2006 until the close
of voting on November 13th, 2006, the Voters- List for the
Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh will be available for
inspection at the municipal office, at 82133 Council Line. You
may inspect the list to determine if your name has been includ-
ed as an elector. Applications for any changes to the Voters List
may be made at the municipal office, on the prescribed forms, up
until the close of voting at 8 p.m. on November 13th, 2006.
Qualification of Voters
Any person who on election day (November 13th, 2006), meets
the following qualifications, is eligible to vote:
1. Is a Canadian citizen.
2. Is at least 18 years old on election day.
3. Resides in the municipality or is the owner or tenant
or spouse of the owner or tenant of land.
4. Are not prohibited by law from voting.
The following are not entitled to vote:
1. Any person who is not a qualified elector
2. A person who is serving a sentence of imprisonment in
a penal or correctional institution.
3. A corporation.
4. A person acting as executor or trustee or in any ,ether
representative capacity.
5. A person who has been convicted of corrupt practices
under the Municipal Elections Act 1996, Sections 90(3)
and 91(1).
Vote By Mail
This election, the Township will continue to use the Vote By Mail
method. Please note that this system is by mail in ballot only.
There will be no traditional polling places on election day, and no
proxy voting. Voting kits containing ballots and instructions, will
be mailed out, on October 16th, 2006, to every name on the
Voters List. The return address will be to the Township of
Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh. Electors should receive the kits
by October 23rd, 2006. The return envelopes must be received
at the Municipal Office by 8 p.m., November 13th, 2006.

The County of Huron intends to control weeds along the following
county roadsides:
Blyth Road (Co.Rd.25), London Road (Co.Rd.4), Newry Road (Co.Rd.16),
Amberley Road, (Co.Rd.86), Brussels Line (Co.Rd.12), McNaught Line,
Molesworth Line (Co.Rd.19), Perth Rd. 178 (Co.Rd.34), Fordwich Line
(Co.Rd.30), Harriston Road (Co.Rd.87), Gorrie Line (Co.Rd.28), Belmore Line
(Co.Rd.12), McIntosh Line (Co.Rd.28), Howick-Turnberry Rd. (Co.Rd.7).
North of (and including) County Road 25 and East of (and including)
County Road 4 within the County of Huron and some parts of Perth
using the pesticide Milestone, PCP Registration Number 28137, and
2, 4-D Amine, PCP Registration Number 14725, under the Pest Control
Products Act (Canada).
Commencing on September 13, 2006 weather permitting and ending
September 30, 2006.

Brussels councillor to seek re-election
