Solution: Stock up on some tasty foods that are easy to grab on the go such as
raw fruit and vegetables, yogurt, milk, cheese, whole grain muffins or crackers,
and bite-sized cereals. Keep whole grain breads, bagels, pita bread or tortilla
wraps handy; stuff them with salad greens and low fat salad dressing topped with
cooked eggs. poultry or meat, tuna, salmon, or beans (chickpeas, black or kidney
beans). Take along a travel mug or thermos of soup.

Cranbrook euchre
The Friday night euchre party at
the Cranbrook hall had seven tables
at play.
The share-the-wealth prize was
won by Ross Stephenson and Mary
Davidson.

Short Putts - By Bill Johnston
There was a good turnout for
Wednesday Seniors Men's at the
Wingham golf course.
Aart DeVos walked off with the
top prize, with Bob Foxton right on
his heels in second spot. There was
a tie for third as Glenn McMichael
and Bob Johnston came in with
identical net scores. There were no
birdies to report this week.

Wow what a round!
On Sunday morning with the
weather not raining but a Scotch
mist as one of the girls in the
clubhouse described it, Wayne
Johnston came in with the low
round score of the year as he
recorded three birdies, five pars
and one bogie for a score of 33,
two under par.
Then he went out and shot a
back nine of 35 consisting of one
birdie, seven pars and a bogie to
give him an 18 hole total of 68 —
the best 18-hole score of the
year.
Top 18 for the month for the
ladies was a score of 90 by Linda
Walker.
Ben Dailleboust had top scores
f6r the junior division for the
month with a nine-hole score of 39
and an 81 for 18 holes.
The Richard W. LeVan municipal
airport in Wingham is celebrating its
10th year and the township is having
a party to celebrate.
The celebration kicks off on
Sunday, Sept. 17 at the airport with
a fly in breakfast hosted 'by the
Wingham Optomist Club.
There will be an antique car show,
as well as the air cadets and
specialty aircraft display from 10
a.m. to 4 p.m.
The pool slide fundraising
barbecue is from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Wednesday night was steak
night. The steaks sure increased the
turnout as 44 were on hand. The
format was two-men teams playing
three holes best ball, three holes
alternate shot and three holes
scramble.
Winners in A division were Terry
Powell and Wayne Johnston with a
score of 36 with Joel Riley and
Steve West in second spot with a
37.
In the B division John
Dailleboust and Dan McPherson
had a terrific game with four
birdies, four pars and a bogie for a
nine-hole score of 32, certainly the
best nine of the night. Second spot
in B flight was the team of Brian
Marston and Mike Whitcroft with a
37.
In the C division Steve Nixon
and Kevin Green took top spot
with Zack O'Krafka and Derek
Marks one stroke behind in second
spot.

One of our regular seniors Lloyd
Lamont has a pair of grandsons
who hit the golf ball well. In a
recent junior scramble at Saugeen
Golf Club in Port Elgin Brayden
and Joel McAllister teamed up
Experience North Huron prize

Children from ages eight-17 will
have the chance to fly with the
with Perry Grace and Matthew
Luchak to win top prize with a 13
under par 59.

There were two dozen out for
Thursday night action. Terry
Powell was top dog winning the
longest drive for the first hole and
coming in with a 37 — the
best score of the night. Don Rae
took second prize with a 40 and
Jason Goodall in third spot with .a
41.
Jack McPherson won five skins
with a birdie on the first hole with
Ryan Gregg winning three skins
and the other skin won by a new
one to Thursday action Lloyd
Townsend.

This weekend Sept. 9 and 10
competition will be keen in play
for club championships in men's,
ladies' and junior divisions.

The curling club swings into
action with the pork and beef
barbecue scheduled for Sunday,
Sept. 24. Tickets are available froth
all curling members and in the pro
shop.
