Challenge: Getting enough fibre to promote
a healthy digestive system and help control
blood sugar and cholesterol levels
Solution: High fibre foods are generally lower in fat and may also help with weight
control as they provide bulk to make you feel full. Women up to the age of 50
should aim for 25 grams of fibre per day. Check labels for foods containing more
than 4 grams of fibre per serving to help you boost your intake. Fibre-rich foods
include dried cooked beans and lentils, green peas, papayas, pears with skin,
mangoes, potatoes with skin, dried fruit, berries, nuts and seeds, whole grain
i breads and cereals.

THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, AUGUST 31, 2006. PAGE 9.
Family and close friends of Andy
Kahlmeier and Cheryl Bromley
gathered at Hessenland on Saturday,
Aug. 26 to witness their exchange of
wedding vows. Andy's groomsman
was his 14-year-old son,
Christopher, while the matron-of-
honour was Lori (Bromley) Pullen.
It's reported that Justin Pullen
performed his duties as ringbearer
with all the panache of a five-year-
old.
Cheryl is the daughter of Bill and
Irene Bromley and she spent most of
her growing up years in the village.
The newlyweds live in Kitchener
and Cheryl is a buyer for MTh.
Andy is employed at Lear, an
automotive seat manufacturer.
Following the wedding dinner
everyone returned to the home of the
bride's parents for an informal
reception, where they were joined
by others wanting to offer their
congratulations as well. The evening
was filled with much laughter and
plenty of best wishes.
Despite some concerns about the
weather the sun shone for the
ceremony so Cheryl can take heart
in the old adage, "Happy the bride
the sun shines on."
By this time next week we will
have turned another calendar page,
have enjoyed the last long weekend
of the summer and have nearly a full
week of September in. Just where
did the summer go?
The yellow buses will again be
rolling along the highways and
byways of the province transporting
our children. to school. One can
never be reminded too often to
exercise a little more caution while
driving to ensure their safe arrival.
With September comes a return to
more regular activities for many of
us.
The Londesborough Men's
Bowling League starts rolling again
on Sept. 21. The league is looking
for more/new bowlers. If you think
you would enjoy this form of
exercise and socializing, call Doug
Trewartha at 519-482-9147.
The annual pork roast supper,
Which is a fundraiser for the
Londesborough United Church, will
be -held at the Community Hall on
Saturday, Sept. 23. Tickets are
available from any member of the
board of stewards.
The newspaper has something for everybody: current events,
human interest stories, scientific facts and bold opinions.

before flu vaccine arrives
around mid-December.
Flu shot clinics set up by the
Health Unit or our community
partners should begin after
November 15.
If you have any further questions
about flu shots, please call the
Huron County Health Unit. You can
reach them at 519-482-3416 or toll-
free 1-877-837-6143.
If you fly south for the winter
before early November, you may
have to leave without receiving your
yearly flu shot.
Flu manufacturers say they are
having problems growing one of the
flu stains in this season's vaccine.
At present, the Huron County
Health Unit is expecting to receive
flu vaccine by the beginning of
November. There is not a shortage
of flu vaccine. The vaccine is just,
arriving a bit late.
"Flu shots are the best way to
protect against the virus," says Dr.
Beth Henning, Huron County's
medical officer of health. "However,
good hand-washing, getting plenty
of sleep and eating a healthy diet
also help maintain a healthy
immune system and prevent
infection."
Once the vaccine arrives, it will be
distributed as quickly as possible so
area residents can get their shots.
Usually, the flu season begins
