THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, AUGUST 3, 2006. PAGE 17.
Over 40 relatives and friends of
Cheryl Bromley attended a bridal
shower in her honour at the
Londesborough Community Hall on
Sunday, July 30. Warm weather and
warm wishes were the order of the
afternoon.
Cheryl seemed genuinely
delighted to see so many former
friends and to renew old
acquaintances. In her 'thank you'
address she made mention of the real
sense of community there is in the
Londesborough area.
The shower was hosted by Barb
Bosman, Nancy Allen and Marjorie
Duizer assisted by their daughters
Kelly Marks, Lisa Elliott, Laurel
Mitchell and Paula Allen. Following
her welcome, Marjorie asked
everyone to refresh Cheryl's
memory as to who they all were.
The Bosman trio, Barb, Kelly and
Lisa sang Going to the Chapel with
appropriate words for Cheryl's
upcoming wedding. Punch and
snacks were served and Cheryl was
presented with a wide variety of
gifts. Ice cream and cake decorated
by Shannon Duizer were served as
everyone visited and congratulated
the bride to be.
Keith and Nancy Allen 'and Barb
Bosman recently returned from an
exciting vacation trip beginning with
a week-long motorcoach tour. The
tour began in Salt Lake City, Utah
and proceeded through Idaho,
Wyoming, Montana and Washington
State. A highlight was Yellowstone
National Park with 01' Faithful
spouting right on schedule according
to Barb.
The Teton Mountains and the
Grand Coulee Dam were also
interesting sights as the bus made its
way across the border into Canada,
to the port of Vancouver.
There the travellers boarded the
Zuiderdam, one of a line of cruise
ships owned by Holland America.
Another week was spent sailing up
the inside passage to Alaska with
stops at Juneau, Skagway and
Ketchican, all points with a wealth
of fascinating history.
Glacier Bay was breathtaking in
its beauty and a whole day was spent
there with naturalists on board to
give background about glaciers. The
weather was phenomenal —for the
whole trip with none of the fog that
can shroud the mountains of Alaska.
Barb reports the travellers returned
a little befuddled by the four-hour
time difference but with memories to
last a lifetime.
The Fellowship Bible Chapel
invites the community to enjoy their
next outdoor music evening. 'Stand
Firm', a contemporary rock and
gospel group, will entertain on the
lawn at the chapel on Saturday, Aug.
12 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Refreshments are provided,
admission is free and fellowship will
follow. Bring along a lawn chair.
ATVers
cut fence
Sometime between July 27 and 28
ATV enthusiasts were travelling
along a farmer's field on Cardiff Rd.
in Huron East.
The parties cut the fence to the
property and trespassed. Cattle
escaped and created some damage
to another farmer's cornfield.
Huron OPP advise that
permission from the property owner
must be granted prior to riding on
trails. Safe and responsible use of
the trail system is always
mandatory. The trails that are
controlled and supervised by the
Ontario Federation of Snowmobile
Clubs (OFSC) in the winter revert
back to the landowners in the off-
season.
Any violation of this will result in
a charge of trespassing and as in this
case mischief to the property of the
victim.
