Brussels Livestock report
Calves, yearlings sell on steady market
Total receipts for Brussels
Livestock for the week ending July
21 were 1,511 head of cattle, 713
lambs and goats. On Tuesday the fed
steers and heifers sold $1 lower. The
choice steers and heifers sold $91 to
$96 with sales to $103.75. Second
cut sold $88 to $91 with the cows
selling $1 to $2 higher. On Thursday
the veal sold $2 to $3 higher while
the light lambs sold on a sharply
lower trade. The sheep sold steady.
On Friday calves and yearlings were
selling on a steady market.
There were 230 steers on offer.

eight steers that sold for an average
of $96.27 averaging 1,383 lbs. with
one limousin steer weighing 1,305
lbs. selling for $102:50 to Dothinion

Agricultural Society, open to farm-

was judged this past week by Laura
Neubrand of Hoegy Farm Supply,
Brodhagen. The results were: first,
Neil Mitchell and Matt Shortreed,
tied, 90 points; second, Jeff Cardiff,
88.5 points; third, Jerry Zwep, 87.5
points; fourth, Glen Sellers, 87
points; fifth, John Baan, 86.5 points;
sixth, Bruce Higgins, 86 points; sev-
enth, Murray Cardiff, 81.5 points;
.eighth, Kevin Deitner, 80.5 points.

heifers averaging 1,270 lbs. sold to

signed five heifers that sold averag-
ing 1,188 lbs. for $88.55. With the
top grey heifer weighing 1,310 lbs.

field comprises two-thirds of the
final score. To obtain the remaining
one-third of the total points, entrants
must exhibit one-quarter bushel of
crop grown at the Brussels Fall Fair
on Sept. 19.

Beef cows sold $42 to $50 with sales
to $55; D1 and D2 cows sold $38 to
$45; D3, $30 to $38; D4, $12 to $20.

charolais cow that sold for $59

red cow that sold for $56 weighing

There were nine bulls on offer
selling $40 to $51 with sales to $65.

There were 194 head of veal on
offer. Good holstein sold $85 to $95

two veal that sold averaging 615 lbS:

Beef club
holds
final
meeting

The last meeting of the
Belgrave/Bnissels Beef Club was
held on July 17 at the home of Kim
Higgins.
Members practised judging hay,
beef and menus for the Competition
in August but had to wrap up the
m. eeting pretty quickly when the big
storm moved in.
Goats sold $38 to $300.
