It was great to see Scott Raven here from Calgary to have a short visit with Grandma Jean Bewley. He was in Toronto on business that didn't get concluded on schedule, so he had a chance to stay the weekend with Jean. He went lawn bowling and took in some of the Grey Twp. celebrations. Our condolences to Karen and John Braecker and family and Kathy and Larry McNichol and family on the passing of their grandmother, Mrs. Colquhoun from Mitchell. We welcome Steve Gulutzen back from a job search in Alberta. Steve was hoping to get work on the pipeline, but it has been very wet in northern Alberta and regular work wasn't to be had. He was employed at other work but decided to return to Ontario and good old Walton for awhile. Nice to see you back Steve. According- to my crop advisor Ken, last week's rain came at the opportune time and the crops are just jumping with the combined moisture and heat. . Some corn has tasselled and the beans have filled out well. A stab at the wheat at the end of last week showed it was still a little high in moisture but by now, it could be ready to combine. The Walton Inn had a very special entourage drop in for lunch on Thursday. MP Carol Mitchell along with MP George Smitherman, Minister of Health along with their party stopped for a bite to eat. They were travelling to different areas to make health announcement funding. There is a new species of trees and bushes on Hullett-McKillop Rd. these days. Early Saturday morning, it seems the trees and bushes in the yard of Ed McClure bloomed ladies' bras. All sizes and colotirs and I would say about 50 blooms in all. What a coincidence that they would bloom on the very day that Ed turned 50. Keith and Gloria Wilbee have returned from a vacation in Ottawa. Son Kevin is working in Ottawa for the summer while on his break from school, also in Ottawa. Where Kevin lives, his view overlooks a 700-acre park. Keith says it's just like being out in the country. Beautiful and well kept. An amazing city to tour. Congratulations to Ken and Joan Campbell who have been married 50 years. A few weeks ago, family and friends gathered to celebrate Ed McClure's 50th birthday a little early. The party was early just in case Ed would be away. Happy birthday this week Ed. Welcome back to Chad and Cyrstal McCallum who spent a week out in Calgary. They attended the Calgary Stampede and enjoyed many events including bull riding, bareback riding and the chuckwagon races. They found it was very expensive at some of other venues and going to the Cowboy Bar would cost $9 a drink plus a huge cover charge to get in. They had a good time. We say goodbye to Joanne, Weldon, Allison and Andrew who have been here visiting mom and dad - Jack and Donna Knight. They have had an amazing vacation starting from their home in New Brunswick and flying and driving to B.C., then driving and flying into Ontario. They arrived in time for the celebrations of Grey Twp. and have spent the week with Jack and Donna and visiting with Brad, Steve and Marni and lots of other friends and relatives.
