It was great to see Scott Raven
here from Calgary to have a short
visit with Grandma Jean Bewley. He
was in Toronto on business that
didn't get concluded on schedule, so
he had a chance to stay the weekend
with Jean.
He went lawn bowling and took in
some of the Grey Twp. celebrations.
Our condolences to Karen and
John Braecker and family and Kathy
and Larry McNichol and family on
the passing of their grandmother,
Mrs. Colquhoun from Mitchell.
We welcome Steve Gulutzen back
from a job search in Alberta. Steve
was hoping to get work on the
pipeline, but it has been very wet in
northern Alberta and regular work
wasn't to be had. He was employed
at other work but decided to return to
Ontario and good old Walton for
awhile. Nice to see you back Steve.
According- to my crop advisor
Ken, last week's rain came at the
opportune time and the crops are just
jumping with the combined moisture
and heat.
. Some corn has tasselled and the
beans have filled out well.
A stab at the wheat at the end of
last week showed it was still a little
high in moisture but by now, it could
be ready to combine.
The Walton Inn had a very special
entourage drop in for lunch on
Thursday. MP Carol Mitchell along
with MP George Smitherman,
Minister of Health along with their
party stopped for a bite to eat. They
were travelling to different areas to
make health announcement funding.
There is a new species of trees and
bushes on Hullett-McKillop Rd.
these days. Early Saturday morning,
it seems the trees and bushes in the
yard of Ed McClure bloomed ladies'
bras. All sizes and colotirs and I
would say about 50 blooms in all.
What a coincidence that they would
bloom on the very day that Ed turned
50.
Keith and Gloria Wilbee have
returned from a vacation in Ottawa.
Son Kevin is working in Ottawa for
the summer while on his break from
school, also in Ottawa.
Where Kevin lives, his view
overlooks a 700-acre park. Keith
says it's just like being out in the
country. Beautiful and well kept. An
amazing city to tour.
Congratulations to Ken and Joan
Campbell who have been married 50
years.
A few weeks ago, family and
friends gathered to celebrate Ed
McClure's 50th birthday a little
early. The party was early just in
case Ed would be away. Happy
birthday this week Ed.
The Walton Women's Institute
served a supper at the hall on
Saturday evening. It was for more
than 50 Blyth theatre patrons who
then went on to the show.
Les and Brenda Bernard hosted a
small gathering upstairs at Walton
Hall as well, later Saturday evening.
Spending the weekend at Neil and
Marie McGavins was Neil's sister
Liz and husband Bill Dinsmore of
Brampton. They were here to
celebrate McGavin Farm
Equipment's 70th anniversary.
Welcome back to Chad and
Cyrstal McCallum who spent a week
out in Calgary. They attended the
Calgary Stampede and enjoyed
many events including bull riding,
bareback riding and the chuckwagon
races. They found it was very
expensive at some of other venues
and going to the Cowboy Bar would
cost $9 a drink plus a huge cover
charge to get in. They had a good
time.
We say goodbye to Joanne,
Weldon, Allison and Andrew who
have been here visiting mom and
dad - Jack and Donna Knight. They
have had an amazing vacation
starting from their home in New
Brunswick and flying and driving to
B.C., then driving and flying into
Ontario.
They arrived in time for the
celebrations of Grey Twp. and have
spent the week with Jack and Donna
and visiting with Brad, Steve and
Marni and lots of other friends and
relatives.
Spending a week in Alberta were
Ron and Betty McCallum. They
were out to attend two wedding
receptions for very close friends.
One was in Calgary and the other
reception in Edmonton.

Following the July 30 service, a
time of fellowship and a chance to
visit with Gail will be held. There
will be no Bluevale service.

month of August.

McGavins have reason to celebrate • Congrats
Well, it as quite a fine celebration
that was hosted by McGavins of
Walton to celebrate 70 years in
business. At the business on Friday,
a mini-farm show was on display,
with many antique tractors and
equipment as well as modern
equipment. Displays and
memorabilia from the many years of
business were set up in the office
area.
The Walton ladies of Duff's
United Church sold sweets and lots
of cold drinks and water to the
hundreds of past, present and future
customers of McGavins.
A dinner for the employees and
their families was served at the
Brussels arena. Michael Peterson
also spoke at the dinner.
Performing before the concert
were the Lobb Brothers. Burt,
Richard, Fred and Joe performed
many great songs for the enjoyment
of the gathering crowd.
Peterson performed a concert in
the evening for over an hour that the
crowd really enjoyed.
