NOTICE is hereby given to the
Municipal Electors of the
Corporation of the Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh
Nominations in the Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh for
the offices of:
Reeve — election at large (one position to be filled)
Councillors — Ashfield Ward
(two positions to be filled)
Councillors — Colborne Ward
(two positions to be filled)
Councillors — Wawanosh Ward (two positions to be filled)
may be made by completing and filing in the office of the Clerk,
nomination papers on the prescribed form. Such nomination
papers must be accompanied by the prescribed nomination filing
fee of $200.00 for the position of Reeve and $100.00 for the position
of Councillor. The filing fee shall be paid in cash, certified cheque
or money order made payable to the Township of Ashfield-
Colborne-Wawanosh.
A nomination must be signed by the candidate and may be filed in
person or by an agent during regular business hours between
January 2, 2006 and September 28, 2006, and between 9 a.m. and 5
p.m. on September 29, 2006 (Nomination Day).
No person who proposes to be a candidate may solicit or accept
contributions for election purposes; or incur expenses, until that
person's nomination has been filed. A nomination must be certified
by the Clerk, or designate, before such person becomes a certified
candidate for the office for which she or he is nominated.
In the event there are an insufficient number of certified candidates
to fill all positions available, nominations will be reopened for the
vacant positions only on Wednesday, October 4, 2006, between the
hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. and such additional nominations, if
required, may be filed in the office of the Clerk.
Information pertaining to the Municipal Election in the Township of
Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh will be posted throughout the year on
the Township's website www.acwtownship.ca or may be obtained
by contacting the Municipal Office at:

as the Kinsmen hosted their annual co-ed tournament. In

Hit parade for Ethel Mites
It was a big game for the
Londesborough Pre-Mites as the
took on Blyth, July 12 at home and
came away with a huge 18-6
victory.
There were solid second and third
innings, with eight runs scored in
each that helped the team win. Blyth
was shutdown in the second and
fourth, but managed three in each of
the first and third.
Londesborough's Kayla Datema
did well defensively catching a fly
for an out, while Caitie MacDonald
did a stellar job in the fourth, being
responsible for all three outs. Both
girls made some great plays with
first base player Emily Wilts.
Offensive strength came ' from
homerun hitters Dylan Datema in the
second and Tyler Westerhout and
MaryKate Allen in the third.
Coaches Dawna Glen and Dawn
Dolmage were pleased with the great
fielding and batting from all the
Londesborough players.
The Brussels Bantams played
home and away to Fullarton in
recent baseball action.
The first matchup had Ryan Smith
starting on the mound. Brussels kept
Fullarton off the scoreboard with
three fielded outs.
Brussels answered with three runs
to take the lead. Westin McLeod and
Wade Stephenson waited walks and
scored on a sacrifice by Brianne
Wheeler. Cody Subject would score
on a walk and stealing home.
Fullarton cut the lead on a single
and a double.
In the second, Taylor Prior led off
with a double followed by a walk to
McLeod. Both scored on sacrifice
flies by Tyler Dietner and Wheeler.
Fullarton scored three in the third
on a triple and two home runs.
Brussels loaded the bases in the
bottom half yet was unable to score
a runner.
Wheeler took over the mound and
allowed a solo homerun.
Brussels scored two and left the
bases loaded again.
Blyth's Thunder's final game for
the regular U-11 soccer season was
played on July 11 against Goderich
II at Robertson School, Goderich.
Danielle Randell covered the
Blyth net for the first half of the
game. Blyth's Jan Paul VanDorp and
Christina Eckert worked the ball up
the field to Leendert VanDorp for the
first goal of the night.

assist from Blyth's Brittany Boyce.
Goderich was able to get one goal
past Blyth's keeper.
It was a very evenly-matched
game for the first half with the
Thunder having a 2-1 lead at
halftime.
Charlene Schramm and Randell
shared goalkeeper duties for the
second half of the game.
Blyth's J.P. VanDorp had two
breakaways and scored the first two
goals of this half unassisted.
Goderich scored to tighten the
score.
Jessica Tyler made a nice pass to
J.P. VanDorp for a goal. Blyth had a
surge of energy and scored five more
goals. Eckert assisted a goal scored
by Boyce. Kelsey Kerr earned an
assist after passing the ball to
Trystan Weber. J. P. VanDorp had
another breakaway to score for the
Thunder. L. VanDorp booted the ball
up the field to Kyle Treble for a nice
goal. The final goal of the game
came from an assist from Boyce to
L. VanDorp.
In the final inning errors and hits
plagued the Brussels defence.
Fullarton scored four runs on two
doubles, two singles and four errors.
Brussels needed two to catch the
Fullarton squad. Stephenson led
with a triple and scored on a passed
ball. Cody Subject reached second
on a walk but would be left standing
on strikeouts from Wheeler, Smith
and Evan Ducharme.
The final score was Fullarton 9,
Brussels 8.
Brussels then travelled to
Fullarton. Andrew Lindsay led off
for Brussels with a single and
advanced to third on passed balls.
Justin Pipe and Brad Quesenberry
got on with walks and advanced
home on overthrows. Subject and Ty
Sebastian also go on with walks but
remained on base with strikeouts to
Wheeler, Dietner and Smith.
Quesenberry started on the
mound. With the bases loaded the
Brussels defence kicked in with two
quick fielded outs and a strikeout.
Ducharme got on base for
Blyth Thunder put forth an
excellent team effort to play this
game.
The Thunder's defensive players,
Megan Hoggart, Mikayla Nonkes,
Melissa VanSchaik, Tyler Boven,
Zach Drost and Conner Wilts put
forth an excellent effort to keep the
ball out of their defensive end.
Blyth players worked as a team
making good passes and working
Brussels on a walk. He advanced to
third on an overthrow and scored on
a single by Quesenberry.
Fullarton took the lead in the
second with seven runs on three
singles, one double and five
walks.
Brussels added another run in the
third when Subject got on with a
walk and scored on a double by
Smith. Smith was stranded at third
after strikeouts to Sebastian and
Ducharme.
Wheeler took over the mound and
allowed no runs on one double, one
walk.
Brussels got caught in the fourth
with two lead offs and a fly to
second.
Again the Brussels defence fell
apart allowing seven runs in four
singles, and a homerun.
Brussels took their last bat and
loaded the bases. Wheeler was put
out on a force play followed by
strikeouts to Subject and Ducharme.
The final score was Fullarton 14,
Brussels 5.

was a 10-2 victory for Blyth
Thunder.
Coach Anne-Beth VanDorp was
very pleased with her team's effort
during this game.
The area's U-11 soccer teams look
forward to participating in the year-
end tournament in Clinton, July 18-
22.
