THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, JULY 20, 2006. Well we're into full blown summer with the heat and humidity that makes one pause. It's hot enough to stop and think whether it really is necessary to do that job or for that fact move much at all. Oh yes, it's At the Branch By Jo-Ann McDonald The fish fry crew was off to Monkton Presbyterian Church to feed nearly 200 people. It was the first time many of those present had tasted our cuisine. On cooking duty were Willis Knight, George Adams, Lloyd Glanville, Deb Cann, Rick and Jo- Ann McDonald. The crew has a couple of weeks off for a well-deserved rest before the Tigers' fastball tournament begins and the Legion will have a food booth. The purchase of the Consitt property for $122,386 and paying for bridge work were additional significant expenditures. *** The Ontario government's decision to reduce some of the food handling regulations for farmers' markets and community events did not interfere with council's decision to support the request by the Tvvp. of Edwardsburgh Cardinal for assistance in pressuring the Ontario government to rethink the decision to impose stringent requirements on farmers' markets. *** Council also supported Claringon's request to the province that it provide adequate funds to the municipalities and landowners for the implementation of changes required by the Ontario Clean Water Act, Bill 43. *** A motion moved by councillor Jt3e Staffer and seconded by councillor Bill DeJong to support the Twp. of Leeds and the Thousand Islands requesting that the government not summer. Reading The Citizen insert of all the Grade 8 graduations last week was a time spent in thinking about the future. The many speeches offered by the students gave me full hope for our future. This group, who are just getting started at growing up, can put into words very deep and true thoughts that many adults don't even think, let alone write down and say out loud. Thank you graduates. You've already made the world a better place and we'll be watching as you hit maturity knowing you have much more to offer. Well done all of the classes. found at this point although information has been received concerning the matter. No questions will be asked if the letters mysteriously return like the neighbour's garden globe. Thanks to George Adams, George Somers and Howard Martin for their combined efforts in improving the sign.
