Blyth Lightnings U-I3 co-ed
soccer team travelled to Clinton to
play Clinton) Liverpool on June 29.
Lucas Frawley put on goalie gear
for Blyth for the first half of the
game and did a terrific job covering
the net. Each team had scoring
opportunities, but neither team was
successful so there was no score
after the first half of the game.
Greg Roetcisoender covered the
net for Blyth during the second half
of the game. Again the teams were
similarly skilled and the game
remained very close. No goals were
scored until the last 10 minutes of of
the game, when one of the many

against Blyth, allowing Clinton to
score on a penalty shot. It wasn't
long before Clinton scored another
goal to widen the lead.
Blyth was unable to get the ball
past the goalie and the final score
was a 2-0 win for Clinton Liverpool.
This was a close game and the
Lightning played very
competitively. Blyth's halfbacks did
a great job clearing the ball away
from their defensive end and
booting the ball up towards their
opponents' net, coaches said.
Halfbacks were: Brendon Boven,
Emily Nicholson, Katie Packer,
Alex Raynard, Greg Roetcisoender,
Ali and Brooke Snell.
Evans, Connor Bridge and Kyle
Cronin all came close to scoring.
In the second half Waechter scored
two with Logan Kellington assisting.
Jake Mitchell played well in net,
only letting four goals in. Nolan
Johnson and Cody Harding helped
defensively. The final score was 8-2.
Without a doubt some of othe
best scores at the Wingham golf
course are recorded by that "Up
Before the Roosters Crew" who
play early, early Saturday and
Sunday.
Last Saturday 12 were out and
Sunday 19 were on hand.
In Saturday action the top nine-
hole score of 37 was recorded by
John Dailleboust while Terry
Powell with a 75 had low score for
18. Skins were won as follows:
Wayne Johnston, four; Bill
Robinson, three and John
Dailleboust, three.
In Sunday play there was a tie for
nine-hole honours as Bill Robinson
and Terry Powell each shot 35 (par
for the course). Once again Powell
won the award for his.18-hole score
of 76.
Skins won as follows: Terry
Anger, six; Roger Keay, four and
Gerald Skinn, three.
Jason LeRoux certainly had a hot
putter on his front nine with only a
total of nine putts on nine holes.

Blyth Lightning met Blyth
Thunder on June 27 at the Sparling
Field for their weekly U-11 soccer
game.
It was a sea of Blyth yellow on the
field so Thunder wore the black
pinnies to help keep the teams
separate. This was a fun game of
soccer as most of the players knew
each other, and each team wanted to
gain bragging rights as the winning
team.
Kyle Treble put on the goalie shirt
for the Thunder and Wyatt Bearss
suited up for the Lightning team
during the first half of the game.

There are three divisions:
amateurs (age 18 to 30),
professionals (age 3I to 54) and the
cream of the crop the Hall of
Famers (55 and up).
This is a handicap tourney with
bragging rights on the line. Rumour
has it that the losers have to cook
the steaks.
