The provincial government has
verb-ally confirmed that it will cover
its portion of overage on the
Belgrave water system improvement
project.
"I was talking to the Ministry last
week," project engineer Andy
McBride said. "And the Ministry
verbally committed to paying."
McBride said the Ministry must
be provided with a written report
confirming the cost overruns are
related to the technical upgrades of
the system before any funds are
transferred.
"There are certain things they
won't fund," he said. "They won't

pay for legal costs, or cover any cost
related to the purchase of the land,
for instance. "They only cover those
costs related to the changes required
under the new (water system) rules
they brought in in 1999."
McBride said a technical report
has confirmed Belgrave's request is
legitimately related to the upgrade
needs.
Currently, the overage is a little
less than $1 million. Under the
project's funding arrangement, the
province is responsible for a third of
its cost. In this case, Queen's Park
would pay a bit more than $300,000.
The federal government also pays
a third, while the municipalities pay
the final third. The federal
government has not committed to
covering any of the overage at this
time.
Johnston passed the ball up the field
to Sjaarda who scored for Blyth to
widen the lead. Steele earned an

shutout.
This 4-0 victory earned the Storm
the gold medal. It took the entire
team to play their .positions, make
good passes and gain ball control to
win the tournament.
Congratulations to the U-13
