BLYTH UNITED CHURCH
Greeting at Blyth United Church
on Sunday, June 25 were Enid
MacDonald and Diana Campbell.
Ushering were Cliff Snell, Joann
MacDonald, Lavern Clark and Rob
Mason. Lynda McGregor was guest
organist. Rev. McGauley welcomed
everyone to church, especially the
Rebekahs and Oddfellows present to
worship along with the congregation.
The choir sang the anthem, Take
My Hand, Let Me Stand with the solo
part sung by Bodie Craig.
The_ children gathered at the front
of the church while Rev. McGauley
read her favourite story about three
trees growing up on a mountain.
Each one of the trees had a special
wish but they were cut down by the
wood cutters. The first one was made
into a feeder for cattle and later was
used as a cradle for Baby Jesus. The
second was made into a fishing boat
and later carried Jesus and the
fishermen through a bad storm. The
third tree was made into a cross onto
which Jesus was nailed to and every
time one sees a cross they think of
God.
Bodie Craig read the scripture from
2 Corinthians 6: 1-13, the Psalm 9
and Mark 4: 35-41.
Rev. McGauley's message to the
adults was Fear and Faith. Many
Bible stories are like many things
happening in the churches today.
They face many challenges and have
weathered many storms. "If we have
faith we will survive with God's help
and guidance and become a stronger
people," she said.
After the service everyone went
down to the auditorium for a potluck
lunch with the Rebekahs and
Oddfellows. The congregation also
presented Rev. McGauley and Mark
with a wedding gift and asked them
to cut the cake which was decorated
in their honour.
