Huron East council approYed the payment of accounts triple the size of its usual monthly amount. The financial report in the agenda showed that amount was misleading, since there were four transfers of - $95,000 representing money from the Brussels Trust Fund Investment into other investments which would provide a higher rate of return. *** Council refused to approve the amendments to -the comprehensive toning bylaw and official plan amendment, despite an item-by-item discussion of public comments and- strong urging from administrative staff. The consensus was that the matter was too complex and important to be rushed through. This decision will defer further public meetings on the zoning bylaw until fall. - *** Council approved the signing of an aareement with E.D. Smith & Sons LP, the purchaser of Seaforth Creaniery Inc., permitting it the same right to discharge effluence into the Seaforth sewage lagoon system as the creamery had. The agreement permits the company to discharge effluent and provides for a reimbursement to the municipality based on the volume of the discharge. *** With minimal discussion, council approved a motion by councillor Frank Stretton and seconded by councillor Lou Maloney to ensure that crossing guards would be available for the new break times required by schools transferring to Wingham dept. needs new pumper By Bonnie Gropp Ouzel! editor North Huron council gave its support for a new pumper for the Wingham and Area Fire Department. This approval was despite opposition from the county planning department. *** Council deliberated long and hard about a request fc,,r rezoning to permit a bottle recycling depot at the location of the old bowling alley. Approving the request would require a -zoning bylaw change, which Council was hesitant to approve. Councillors were in favour of having a bottling recycling -depot in Seaforth, but. unwilling to modify the bowling alley's current zoning.
