Obituaries
ROY HAROLD CHAPPLE
Mr. Roy Chapple of RR3,
Winghani passed away at his farm.
with his cattle, while doing what he
loved best on Friday, June 9, 2006.
He was 53. He was the beloved
husband of the former Lema Smith-
Moore.
He was the dear father of Jeffrey
and Rachael Chapple of Belgrave,
Gregory Chapple and friend Marie
of Montreal. stepfather of Luke
Moore of Hanover, Hillary Moore of
Walkerton and, Emily Moore at
home. He was the loving grandfather
of Cody and Hailey. He is survived
as well by other family members in
the Chatham area.
His father Robert Roy (Bob)
Chapple predeceased him.
Roy's passion was farming. He
was a noted breeder of Simmental
cattle and standard-bred race horses.
Visitation was at McBurney
Funeral Home. Wingham on
Monday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.
The funeral service was held at the
funeral chapel on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
Rev. Dean Noakes officiated. His
final resting place is his beloved
farm.
Memorial donations to
Cryoglobulinemia Research would
be appreciated as expressions of
sympathy.

DONALD COTTON
Donald Cotton passed .away at
Dufferin Oaks Nursing Home,
Shelburne on Thursday, June 8,
2006. He Was formerly of Cranbrook
and was born 84 years ago in Mono
Twp.. Duffenn County, a son of the
late Lewis and Nellie (Newton)
Cotton.
Donald was the beloved husband
of the late Thelma Cotton who
predeceased him in 2001. He whs
the loving stepfather of Earl and
Carol Starr of Barrie, Garnet and
Joyce Starr of Owen Sound, Angus
and Joan Star of Alliston, step-
grandfather of Reg, Paul, Randy,
Carol Anne, Steve, Lori. Kim, David
and Kelly. He will also be
remembered by his brother Elgin
and his wife Jean Cotton of North
Bay and many nieces and nephews.
Donald was predeceased by his
brothers Bill and Howard and his
sisters Martha, Bessie and Bernice.
At Donald's request there was no
visitation. The funeral service was
held at Peebles Funeral Home, 141
John St., Atwood, on Saturday, June
10 at 1 p.m. Major Bruce Jennings
officiated.
Interment followed in Brussels
Cemetery.

HAROLD GEORGE FRANCE
Mr. Harold France of Wingham
passed away at his residence on
Tuesday, June 6, 2006.. He was 95.
Mr. France was the beloved
husband of the former Jessie
Richmond. He was the dear father of
Greta and Ross Heinmiller of
Kitchener, Barbara McDonald of
Goderich and Sheila and John Nixon
of Belgrave. He was the brother of
Alvin and Ethel France of Ripley
and Charles France of Paisley. Mr.
France was also survived by his five
grandchildren and five great-
grandchildren. His parents George
and Ethel France, his son-in-law
Grant McDonald, his sister Helen
Schroeder and his brothers Johnny, ;
James and Melvin predeceased him.
Visitation was at McBurney
Funeral Home, Wingham on
Wednesday from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and
' 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. The funeral service
was held at the funeral chapel on
Thursday at 2 p.m. Rev. Wayne B.
Beamer officiated.
Flowerbearers were Greta
Heinmiller and Barbara McDonald.
Honorary bearers were Bodie Craig,
Bruce Richmond, Lionel France,
Harold France and Allan Appleby.
Pallbearers were Don France, Doug
Schroeder. Jim France, John
Montgomery, Keith Richmond and
Stewart France.
Interment was in Wingham
Cemetery.
Memorial donations to the charity
of one's choice would be appreciated
as expressions of sympathy.
SAM SWEENEY
Samuel - Lester Sweeney of
Listowel, and formerly of Brussels,
passed away at Listowel Memorial
Hospital on Sunday, June 4, 2006.
He was in his 91st year.
Born in Timiskaming on May 10,
1916, Sam was the son of Thomas
Sweeney and Matilda McCullough
and was raised in Wallace Twp.
Sam and his wife Margaret moved
to the eighth of Grey where Sam
farmed and worked in the
construction field and Margaret
taught in a Grey Twp. school. Upon
retirement Sam and Margaret moved
to Brussels.
Sam was an avid curler and
pursued his hobby of flying, even
building his own plane.
Same was the husband of the late
Margaret Smith and is survived by
his sisters-in-law Jeanette Sweeney
of Elora and June Sweeney of
British Columbia and by his many
nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his
brothers Bill, Cliff and Elwood and
sisters Elsie and Violet.
The funeral service was held at the
Schimanski Family Funeral Home,
Brussels, on Wednesday, June 7 at 3
p.m. with Rev. Cathrine Campbell
officiating. A remembrance of Sam
was given by his nephew Murray
Cardiff.
Pallbearers were John Perrie,
Gordon Lyddiatt, Jeff Cardiff, Scott
Cardiff, Ron Smith and David
Elston.
Burial took place in Brussels
Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy,
memorial donations may be made to
Melville Presbyterian Church or the
charity of one's choice.
