Award Sunday at United Church
As it was the annual Sunday
school promotion and award Sunday
at Londesborough United Church on
June I I. the emphasis was on the
young folk.
In the gospel reading, Matthew 18:
1-5. Christ tells the disciples that
one must become as a little child to
enter the kingdom of heaven. The
responsive psalm, Psalm 100 is a
song of praise to God..
Prior to the service piano pupils of
Barb Bosman shared their talents
with congregants as they arrived and
another young bass player offered
the offertory music.
Mikayla Allen and Kelsey
Falconer sang Rockin' the Boat and
The Butterfly Song. Kelsey also
soloed with The Sun Will Come Out.
The entire Sunday school gathered
to sing Noah's Ark.
During the service the children
who belong to Londesborough
United's Sunday school were
presented to the congregation and
given a gift by their teachers.
A member of the Blyth Christian
Puppeteers, Jackie Cook, brought
along three friends. Footless, the
bird taught the young folk a Bible
:verse. A small girl puppet had
visited a Sunday school and learned
about standing on God's promise.
She came to Londesborough ,with
promise on the bottom of each toot.
The third puppet visiting
Londesborough United, a young
man, sang the song about God's
promises.
Flowers in the sanctuary had been
placed by the family of Mary Vander
Moelen. Her memorial service
was held in the sanctuary on
Monday, June 5. Sympathy is
offered to the family during this time
of sorrow.
The senior choir will gather for
practice at ID a.m. on June 18.
The UCW will gather for a potluck
picnic supper on Monday, June 19 at
6:30 p.m. at the home of president,
Barb Bosman. Beverages and ice
cream will be provided. Bring a lawn
chair. George and Helen Underwood
will show slides of their agricultural
trip to China.
The official board will meet on
Tuesday, June 20 beginning at 7:30
p.m.
Although she took her time about
joining their family, Cassie Jennifer
Elliott will be keeping parents Tim
and Jenn on their toes attending to a
newborn's wants. Weighing in at
nine pounds, Cassie arrived
Wednesday, June 7. Big sister,
Chloe. is excited about having a
new playmate.
Don't forget to take Dad out for
breakfast this coming Sunday, June
18. He'll appreciate the big
breakfast served up by the
Londesborough Lions Club that day
from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Lions will
fill his plate with eggs, ham,
sausage, bacon and homefries along
with toast and beverages.
Be sure to take note of the
excellent refreshing the Lions Club
has done in the front entranceway of
the hall on your way in.
