Obituaries
JANIE ELIZABETH McEWING
Janie Elizabeth (Bernard)
McEwing of Huronview, Clinton,
and formerly of Hullett Twp. (54
years) and Seaforth (eight years),
passed away peacefully in her 87th
year on Wednesday. May 31, 2006.
She was the beloved wife for
almost 60 years of John H.
McEwing, who predeceased her in
February 1998. Mrs. McEwing was
the dear mother of Beth McEwing
Read and Marjorie Cartwright,
Seaforth, Noreen (Herman) Lefler,
Simcoe, Alex (Sharon) MacEwing,
Maryhill and Karen McEwing
(John) McConnell, London. She was
the dear 'Grandma' of II
grandchildren and six great-
grandchildren.
Janie was born July 12, 1919 in
Morris Twp. to Earl L. Bernard and
Annie V. Alcock. She is survived by
her brother and sisters-in-law
Howard (Joan) Bernard, and Lillian
Bernard, all of Brussels. She is also
survived by a brother-in-law James
(Gloria) McEwing. Several nephews
and nieces also survive.
Mrs. McEwing was predeceased
by a son-in-law Howard Cartwright
in February 1999, her brothers
Thomas (Margaret) Bernard and
George Bernard, her sister Mary
(Harold) East, and sisters-in-law and
brothers-in-law Helen (William)
Pepper and Marjorie (Norman)
Lloyd.
Mrs. McEwing was a willing and
active worker both in Burn's Church,
Hullett Twp. and Walton United
Church women's groups and
thoroughly enjoyed the socialization
when preparing food for the annual
church suppers and other events. She
will be well remembered for her
bountiful garden and beautiful
flowerbeds. She loved to share both
garden produce and flowers with her
many neighbours and friends.
Friends and family were received
at the"Whitney-Ribey Funeral Home,
Seaforth on Tuesday from 2 - 4 and
7 - 9. p.m: A celebration of Janie's
life was conducted Wednesday, June
7 at 2 p.m. at Northside United
Church, 54 Goderich St. W..
Seaforth. Huronview Chaplain, Fran
Donohue; officiated, assisted by
Rev. John Gould.
Interment was in Maitlandbank
Cemetery. Seaforth.
Memorial donations to the
Alzheimer Society, Canadian Cancer
Society or to a charity of one's
choice will be appreciated.
The family would like to express a
very sincere thank you to the staff at
Huronview for the compassionate
and dedicated care given to Mom for
the past six years. They were truly
her family.

KEN SNYDER
Ken Snyder passed away at
Stratford General Hospital on
Wednesday, May 31, 2006.
He resided at RR I, Ethel and was
born 43 years ago in St. Catharines,
a son of Laverne and Alicia Snyder
of Scarborough and Joan and Robert
Elliott Sr. of Mitchell.
Ken was the best friend and
common-law partner of Elizabeth
Verner; father of Chad, and his
friend Lindsey Cobey and her
children, Mekhi and Isaac of
Chatham: brother of Tammy and
William Bishop of Seaforth and their
children, Jonica and Garth; Robert
Jr. and Jackie Elliott and their
children, Bobbie-Jo and Jessica of
Mitchell.
He will also be remembered by his
grandmother Glenna Dakin of
Embro, special friends Bonnie
Debus and Heather Leith, many
aunts, uncles, cousins and his dogs
Baby Bear and Buckle.
Ken's family invited relatives and
friends to share their memories at
Peebles Funeral Home, 141 John St.,
Atwood, on Tuesday. June 6 from
noon until the time of the funeral
service at 2 p.m. Interment followed
in Fairview Cemetery, Listowel.
As expressions of sympathy,
memorial donations to the Canadian
Cancer Society would be
appreciated by the family and can be
made by calling the funeral home at
519-356-2382.

grandmother of Joshua. Samantha,
Ryan. Jasmine, Brandon, Zachary,
Tyler, Alexandria and Rebecca.
A brother, Alvin Logan, and a
sister, Marguerite Reid, predeceased
her.
Friends were received at the L. A.
Ball Funeral Chapel, 7 Water St. N.,
St. Marys on Friday, June 2 from 7 -
9 p.m. A private interment took
place in St. Marys Cemetery.
In her memory donations to St.
Marys Memorial Hospital
Foundation or the charity of one's
choice would be appreciated as
expressions of sympathy.
