Sun, rain, hail — a little of everything on the weekend. Accordingly. the 'meteorologists report our summer is going to be one of extremes, hot, cold, rainstorms. The lightning storm on Tuesday evening hit the pole at the cornet of our house at 5:25 a.m. and got us out of bed with a bang. Luckily the only thing that suffered was one televi- sion. We had -power back at 4:30 p.m. that afternoon. Off to see the Blue Jays' game last week were Graeme, Helen and Michael Craig. They saw the Chicago White Sox defeat the Jays 7-5. The Craigs were on the bus with about 30 from the Community Living Association from Wingham and the surrounding area. The Grade 7 class from St. 'James School in Seaforth. including stu- dentS Eric Dwyer. Kristen Grobbink and David Robinson of the Walton area, travelled to Parkhill to visit the conservation areas of Camp Sylvan. They played many games and partic- ipated in many activities. They learned many things through. the games and activities and felt that one day at Camp Sylvan was worth / two days of learning at school. Kristen reports that they had a great time and would love to go hack again. Attending the District annual Huron Perth meeting in Listowel for the Women's Institute from the Walton's Women's Institute were Marjory Humphries, Marion Godkin. Leona 'McDonald, Brenda Perrie and Margaret Mclnroy. They had a meeting in the morning and listened to a gtiest speaker whose topic was on bullying in the high schools. The ladies then enjoyed a potluck lunch: The afternoon session included a guest speaker who discussed elderly abuse. Deepest sympathies are extended to John and Pat Gillis on the death of Pat's. mother Mildred Sparling of St. Marys. Our condolences to all of the Gillis family and Sparling family. Matt Lee has returned from a trip to Thunder Bay. It wasn't a pleasure trip but a working holiday. He was Tenders teaching and running a motocross training school. Matt covers riding techniques, safety, conditioning and general knowledge of motocross racing. The one school was run in Thunder Bay and -the other in Annikokan where he had over 30 registered. While Matt Lee was away, so was wife Cheryl and wee son Ryder: They joined sister Lisa Thompson for a trip to B.C. where they visited with Jen Marion near Whistler. They had a great time touring the area and even saw bears up close, Seven-month-old Ryder enjoyed the plane rides and adapted very well to travelling. Cheryl reports a great time but glad to be home. Grandma and Grandpa. Lee thought Ryder had grown at least two inches while away. Jim Thompson's fishing extrava- ganza that includes many Walton area men was last weekend. The crew was off to Lindsay for the weekend and the reports are that they all had a great time. They caught enough fish to feed them- selves, but not enough to bring home.
