It's been a good start to the ball season for the. Londesborough PeeWee Its as they celebrated two victories. On May 23 the team travelled to Lucknow and won 12-8. Pitchers Cory Buchanan and Dustin Court did a great job on the mound to keep the team in the game. At the end of the first inning, Londeshorough w.as up by three runs. then Lucknow closed the gap to one. In the bottom of the second, however, Londesborough enjoyed a hit parade, with four more runners-- crossing the plate. The third inning changed the tone of the game for a while as the hosts shutdown the side, then added one to their tally. One runner crossed the plate on each side in the fourth, then a four run fifth gave Londeshorough a solid lead. Two runners had crossed the plate at the top of the inning for Lucknow. The hosts added two in the sixth., On May 31, the PeeWees played Varna away in a closer contest. Both teams got off to a good start U-8s play Listowel, lose 6-3 The Brussels 1J-8s travelled to Listowel. Brussels put the first point on the hoard when Delayna Smith scored. I,istowel scored a couple on netaunder Conaor Bridge. Brussels came hack with Kyle Cronin scoring. Listowel finished the first halt with another goal. However, they were able to shutdown the hosts with some excellent defence, then had two runners cross the plate in their turn at bat to tie it. In the third. inning. Londesborough saw five runners come home. Varna made it scary in the bottom half adding four to their score. Both teams failed to bring a runner across the plate in the filth ending the game at 12-11 for the visitors. Dan Dery and Court shared the job on the mound. U-10s lose 5-2 The Brussels E1- lOs recently played Elma. The Brussels team started out strong when Curers Terpstra and Matt Terpstra both kicked in a goal. But Elma started the second half with two quick goals. Then Carl Dow got a penalty shot and took a great high shot that went into the net. Elma put three more goals by Matt Terpstra for a final score of 5- At the regional meet for North Huron schools held in Howick recently, Grey Central School placed third out of six schools. Howick was first and Wingham was second. The overall individual Grey winners were: Kelsey Smith, tied for first: Anthony Lichty. second; Holly Barlow, second.
