Seniors eligible for bursary to cover tuition
By Carol Burns
Citizen staff
Seniors over 60 taking university
courses can get a bursary that will
cover their tuition and probably most
of their books," stated Lynda
McGregor in discussing Western
University of Ontario's decision to
offer two courses in Goderich
beginning September 2006.
McGregor of Blyth, is the
executive director for the Foundation
for Enriching Education.
"Western University of Ontario
has just decided to add an
introductory biology course as well
as the introductory sociology
course," stated Pam Hannington,
Women Today and Lake Huron
Learning Collaborative.
"There will be bursaries available
for people on very low incomes,
social and disability benefits."
Mature students, those who have
been out of school for more than
four years can register at university
for up to two courses, without
meeting traditional university
entrance requirements.
Information on registration can
be found by calling 519-661-
2100, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday to
Friday.
