Byron Boyce of this area is the
proud owner of a most prolific cow.
The new Mom has delivered triplets
which is most likely to be a once-in-
a-lifetime event for any farmer. All
three calves were above average in
weight and are all doing very well.
The calves were born on May 20 and
were turned out to pasture on
. Sunday, May 28.
This amazing mother has
delivered twins each year for three
years running and last year produced
only a single. This year's triplet birth

On Friday, May 19, Wawanosh 4-
H held its second meeting at
Hillsview Greenhouse. There the
members looked around at the
plants.
Wanda, the owner, showed the
members how to transplant a herb.
Then the members got to transplant
basil, oregano or parsley.
Wanda explained how she planted
seeds into seed trays with room for
512 seeds using a machine similar to
a vacuum cleaner.
The members were given a sheet
with questions about the
greenhouse. The members had to
ask Wanda or wander around the
plants to discover the answer.
At Hillsview, they start tomatoes,
Onions, peppers, cauliflower,
cabbage and cucumbers.
The members went back to June
Rdbinson's to complete some
consist of two bulls and one heifer.
The calves were born on Art
Young's farm of RR2, Auburn and
when the first one came Art phoned
Byron to say he had a calf born.
Knowing the cow's history Byron
asked if he was sure there wasn't
another one there as well. The two
men went out to retrieve the calf and
spotted the second. They were half
way to the barn with the twins and
the mother refused to continue. She
kept turning back and when Byron
looked again, there was the third
bundle.
bookwork. For roll call they had to
name something they wanted to
plant in their garden. Members
wanted to grow strawberries,
potatoes, squash and other
interesting plants.
They also completed an activity
where they had to find the common
bond. This was usually what part of
the vegetable you eat.
The members also discussed
when, where and what to plant. The
next meeting will be June 16 at 7
p.m.

Rhea Seeger and I attended the
Auburn Horticultural meeting last
Monday evening. While donations
seemed quite reduced this year, there
was lots of bargains to be had and
lots of fun along the way.
The auctioneer, Karen Redmond
did an exceptional job especially
with her year-round bloomers. I look
forward to next year. The snacks
alone will get me back — but the
hosta will likely have me bringing a
few friends with me.
Thank you to the Auburn
Horticultural Society for keeping the
village looking so charming
throughout the summer with
whatever funds are raised at their
annual auction. Great job everyone!
The rain held off for the Huron
Chapel Olympians to have their
barbecue as part of the closing
program on May 10. After the meal,
the children and their families went
upstairs to the sanctuary. The

In the absence of the secretary, the

charge of program.
Dorothy Schneider read a poem
Mother's Apron.
Members moved to the sun porch
for the auction sale of plants and
miscellaneous items. Dorothy
Schneider made a very entertaining
and excellent auctioneer. A fantastic
sum was realized from the sale.
Deanna Snell and Pat Hunking
served a lunch of fruit breads, jam
and cheese. A social half hour was
enjoyed before everyone departed
for home.
children sang several songs they
learned throughout the year.
Four of the oldest girls performed
a puppet play much to the delight of
everyone..
The coaches then gave recognition
to the children in their groups who
learned memory verses or did acts of
service. Many children earned
bronze or silver medallions, which
the" leaders draped around their
necks. After all, this is the

This was the first year for the new
curriculum and it seemed to be well
zeceived by both the children and the
leaders.
