(Photo submitted) At the Branch By Jo-Ann McDonald Another Brussels Legion year draws to a close at the end of May and we look forward to the next year in the Legion's life. This past year has seen many changes and has been a busy year with Branch members working hard at the fundraising events. Our fish fries have proven very popular around the area and the Branch appreciates everyone's support. The last general meeting was held with nine members in attendance last week. The regular business was addressed as well as donations passed to the Brussels Public School, the Spina Bifida Association and the Children's Hospital. The Cadet Corps was hard at drill practice in preparation for their annual inspection this week. The Friday night supper of ham and scalloped potatoes was enjoyed by a good-sized crowd. This week is roast beef. Members of the executive travelled to Seaforth to attend the joint installation of officers on Friday evening. There were eight officers installed with four officers unable to attend. The Seaforth Branch installed the Brussels comrades first, then Brussels returned the favour. A lovely social lunch followed. The Branch hosted a fish fry on Saturday with over 180 enjoying the fare. Cooks John Harrison, Norm Dobson and Dave and Annette Stephenson along w,ith Cadet helpers did a great job on a great day.
