Oklahoma' opens season
at Country Playhouse
A beautiful momin' dawns again
at Huron Country Playhouse with
the arrival of the cast and crew for
the first production of the 2006
season. Rodgers and Hammer-
stein's rowdy musical masterpiece
Oklahoma! will launch the season
with a three-week run starting May
30.
Set just after the turn of the
century in rural Oklahoma, this
musical masterpiece tells the story
of tender romance and fierce
passion, in an idealized vision of a
simpler time. The characters include
Curly McLain, the handsome
cowboy, and Laurey Williams, a
winsome farm girl. The courtship
of these two young sweethearts
inspires this Wild West celebration
of the human spirit.

successful this year.
The music students at CHSS
have pushed themselves very hard
by entering festivals and
competitions from London, to
Stratford, to Ottawa and coming
away with a variety of
accomplishments and accolades.
For example, the CHSS jazz band
was awarded a gold standing at the
London musicfest regional, and the
newly-founded CHSS percussion
ensemble was awarded first place in
their- class at Kiwanis Stratford and
were invited to play at the Stars of
the Festival- concert which featured
all the best acts from the entire
festival.
Also featured at this year's
Cabaret will be the music classes
from Grade 9 through 12,
performing the repertoire they have
been diligently working towards all
term.
