PAGE 17. Habitat for Humanity seeks support for its Walk for Hope Habitat for Humanity Huron County (HFH HC) has been working hard in order to secure the funds necessary to build two more houses in Huron County this year, scheduled to be built in Wingham and Hensall. HFH HC is planning a fund raising walkathon, Walk for Hope on June 10 in Goderich. The walk will begin Saturday morning at Knox Presbyterian Church and it is hoped that 515,000 will be raised at this event. "This is only a portion of what we will need if we are to begin building these two houses," explained Paul Dyck, HFH HC chair. "We will need the support of people throughout Huron County if we ate to be successful." The walkathon has attracted widespread attention and the response has been relatively positive to this point. However, additional walkers are needed if the fundraising targets are to be reached. Chuck Mallette, who is chairing the group that is organizing the event, states "Things are pretty good, but never so good they can't be better. We need more participants in this event and we need more people to pledge donations to our walkers," A committee made up of board members of HFH HC is working hard to generate interest in the event and ensure that it will be successful. Students from local high schools in Exeter, Clinton, Wingham and Goderich have expressed interest in participating in the event. Mallette says, "I hope we can get as many students from all grades involved as possible, both secondary and elementary schools. In fact, we need people of ail ages, not only students, if we are going to be successful." Participation in the event by high school students will count towards community service hours, a requirement for graduation. "The energy and enthusiasm that students bring is- always a-welcome addition to an event like this," says Mal lette. HFH HC seeks to involve people of all ages and from all over Huron County to come together for a cause that is committed to providing affordable housing in our communities. HFH HC is appealing to people across Huron to support the Walk for Hope. If you wish to participate, call 262-5222, or receive a registration package by writing to: Habitat for Humanity Huron County, PO Box 68, Hensall, ON, NOM I X0. A package of information, including pledge sheets. will be sent to each participant. Mothers' Day dinner Sunday evening the Brussels Legion Mother's Day dinner was sold out.
