The Bible does not describe hell as
a place to have a party. One of the
words used to describe hell is
"gehenna," which was the garbage
dump outside the city.
Another picture we get of hell is
from the parable of the rich man and
Lazarus in Luke 16. The rich man
asks Lazarus for a drop of water. He
is in physical anguish and wants
relief.
Yet relief does not come because
there is a barrier between the two
places.
Then we hear the rich man wants
Lazarus to return to warn his

grandmother of 19 grandchildren
and 16 great-grandchildren. Mrs.
Howson was the dear sister of Velma
Tavener, Hazel Taylor, Ross and

and Bill and Arlene Orvis.
A sister, Jean Loughlean, and a
brother, Ellingworth Orvis,
predeceased her.

brothers of that awful place. He is
told they are given the law and the
prophets. They are given the Bible
and if they do not listen to the Bible,
why would they listen to someone
who returns from the dead.
The picture we get of hell is of a
person in physical torment.
Another term used to describe hell
is "utter darkness." I believe the
message of this is hell being a place
of not being able to see and on a
deeper level of hopelessness and
chaos. It is a place without direction
and meaninglessness.
In conclusion, talking about death
and after life may not be high on our
list of priorities, but it is extremely

important.
Our time spent in after life is a
lot longer than our time spent
here. Friends, this needs our
attention.
Our afterlife is hinged on what we
give our allegiance to while we are
here.
Do you recognize your need for
a Saviour to deal with the
eviction notice that we all have
received?
I want everyone of us to finish
well. Where have you put your trust?
Does God have the title to your
hearts?
If not, let's talk. It is not too late
till we die.
