Brussels Livestock report
2,976 head of cattle on offer at sales
Total receipts for Brussels
Livestock for the week ending May
12 were 2,976 head of cattle, 738
lambs and goats.
On Tuesday the fed steers and
heifers sold $1 higher. The choice
steers and heifers sold $94 to $98
with sales to $102.75. Second cut
sold $90 to $94. Cows sold $2 to $3
higher. On Thursday the veal sold on
a steady market. The lambs sold
steady to last week. On Friday calves
and yearlings sold on a fully steady
market.
There were 381 steers on offer.
Cunningham Noland Cattle Co.,
Lucan, consigned thirty-eight steers
averaging 1,528 lbs. which sold for
an average of $94.97 with a limousin
steer weighing 1,550 lbs. selling to
Dominion Meat Packers for
$101.75. Fifteen steers consigned by
Aaron Wideman, Listowel, averag-
ing 1,401 lbs. sold for an average of
$94.06. Seven limousin steers aver-
aging 1,414 lbs. sold to Dominion
Meat Packers for $99.25. Jack
Glousher, Wingham, consigned four
steers averaging 1,406 lbs. sold for
an average of $95.32 with a black
steer weighing 1,420 lbs. sold to
Holly Park Meat Packers for $98.50.

There were 399 heifers on offer.
Twenty-four heifers consigned by
Johnston Farms, Bluevale, averaging
1,354 lbs. sold for an average of
$98.69 with twelve black heifers
averaging 1,317 lbs. sold for
$102.75. M-R Farms, Exeter, con-
signed thirty-six heifers averaging
1,241 lbs. sold for an average of
$91.85 two blue heifers averaging
1,180 lbs. sold for an average of
$100.25. John Martin, Lucknow,
consigned twenty-seven heifers
averaging 1,246 lbs. sold for an aver-
age of $95.38 with sales to $100.
Thirty-two heifers consigned by
Nelson Weber, Wallenstein; averag-
ing 1,143 lbs. sold for an average of
$96.25 with sixteen black heifers
'averaging 1,135 lbs. sold to St.
Helens Meat Packers for $98. Sellers

heifers averaging 1,375 lbs. sold for
an average of $96.37 with sales to
$96.75. Maynard B. Martin,
Drayton, consigned twenty heifers
averaging 1,364 lbs. sold for an aver-
age of $94.03 with two charolais
heifers averaging 1,315 lbs. sold to
Dominion Meat Packers for $96.75.
David Bowles, Brussels, con-
signed six heifers averaging 1,208
lbs. sold for an average of $95.39
with four limousin heifers averaging
1,190 lbs. sold to Dominion Meat
Packers for $96.25. Three heifers
consigned by Walter McKenzie,
Dublin, averaging 1,295 lbs. sold for
an average of $94.84 with two black
heifers averaging 1,298 lbs. sold to
St. Helens Meat Packers for $95.50.
Bruce Dale, Centralia, consigned
thirteen heifers averaging 1,221 lbs.
sold for an average of $91.91 with a
limousin heifer weighing 1,275 lbs.

There were 219 cows on offer. Dl
and D2 cows sold $37 to $47 with
sales to $62.50; D3, $33 to $37; D4,
$12 to $22. Two cows consigned by
Henry M. Martin, Teeswater, averag-
ing 1,663 lbs. sold for an average of
$94.31 with a limousin cow weigh-
ing 1,765 lbs. sold to Ryding
Regency, St. Ann's for $54. Two hol-
stein cows consigned by Mary Lou
Weiser Hamilton, Ayton, averaging
.1,338 lbs. sold for $45.18 with a hol-
stein weighing 1,180 lbs. sold to St.
Helens Meat Packers for $53. A
hereford cow weighing 1,090 lbs.
sold for $50 consigned by Joe
Simmon, Wroxeter.
There were 13 bulls on offer sell-
ing $36 to $44 with sales to $47.50.
A black bull consigned by Eric
Weber, Mildmay, weighing 1,955
lbs. sold for $47.50. A charolais bull
consigned by Aaron Fisher, Ayton,
weighing 2,420 lbs. sold for $47.
There were 262 head of veal on
offer. Beef sold $90 to $120 with
sales to $124; good holstein, $75 to
$80 with sales to $87; medium hol-
stein, $65 to $73; heavy holstein,
$70 to $75 with sales to $80. Mark
and Paul Pennington, Mildmay, con-
signed one limousin veal steer that
sold for $124 weighing 705 lbs.
Brian Wideman, Gowanstown, con-
signed one red veal heifer that sold
for $116.50, weighing 730 lbs. John
Martin, Lucknow, consigned one
blue Belgium veal steer that sold for
$111 weighing 665 lbs.
Lambs, under 50 lbs. sold $200 to
$205; 50 - 64 lbs., $192 to $219; 65
- 79 lbs., $166 to $200; 80 - 94 lbs.,
$167 to $194; 95 - 109 lbs., $166 to
$171; 110 lbs. and over, $157 to
$160.
Sheep sold $60 to $76.
Goats sold $40 to $137.
