Did you notice it? The bold letters on the sports page, Wingham Club a Treasure, headed up a well worded article written by reporter John Langford following his round of golf with Ed Daer at our club. He said, "The club has a genuine country atmosphere, that combined with the tranquility of the Maitland River, helps soothe the mind. It comes with ambience and it doesn't hurt that you won't find constantly ringing cell phones. The only sounds are greens mowers, the river and wildlife. The food is homecooked and good. The nine- hole course has undergone several_ changes over the years but has managed to retain its old-school charm." Marlene Leedham and new committee chairpersons were named. Officers are: president, Marg Mann; vice-president, Shirley Kaufman; treasurer, Mary Lou Cameron; secretary, Myrla Frank: corresponding secretary, Marilyn Wood; hospital board representative, Helen Rintoul.
