There were a couple of eagles at
the local course. No not of the
feathered kind but rather two
golfers recording two strokes under
par on different holes.

final game of the Auxiliary to the

On May 6 there was a good
turnout for Sue Doig Appreciation
Night. After several years serving
just the' best in eats and with her
charming personality — a real plus
ambassador for the club, Sue is
moving on. We are going to miss
those great desserts, especially the
chocolate pie. Our loss is the
Knights of Columbus' gain.

On May 10 an interesting article
appeared ir, the London paper. Did
you notice it? The bold letters on
the sports page, Wingham Club a
Treasure, headed up a well worded
article written by reporter
John Langford following his round
of golf with Ed Daer at our
club.
He said, "The club has a genuine
country atmosphere, that combined
with the tranquility of the Maitland
River, helps soothe the mind. It
comes with ambience and it doesn't
hurt that you won't find constantly
ringing cell phones. The only
sounds are greens mowers, the river
and wildlife. The food is
homecooked and good. The nine-
hole course has undergone several_
changes over the years but has
managed to retain its old-school
charm."
Marlene Leedham and new
committee chairpersons were
named. Officers are: president, Marg
Mann; vice-president, Shirley
Kaufman; treasurer, Mary Lou
Cameron; secretary, Myrla Frank:
corresponding secretary, Marilyn
Wood; hospital board representative,
Helen Rintoul.
