The final night of darts at the
Brussels Legion had 16 darters
having a great time.
Prizes and awards were given out
by Sandra Josling, head darter.
Certificates for the many facets of
darts included John Harrison, high
finish, 75; Marlene Little, high
WI tours
Seven Majestic Women's Institute
members met at the Brussels Library
on May 10 to start their mystery
tour.
While travelling to Stratford,
president Ruth Bauer conducted the
meeting. Business included an
invitation to Walton WI's meeting on
May 17 at 2 p.m. Other dates noted
were the district annual at Listowel
on May 31and the Area convention
Oct. 19 at St. Agatha.
Edna McLellan reported on the
quilt and craft show that was held on
April 8.
The June 14 meeting will start
with a picnic lunch at Lucy Hesse's.
The first stop was at the Perth
Archives in Stratford. Betty Jo,
Cindy and Kate divided the women
into three groups. Information on
faMily histories or businesses in the
area could be found through
different documents, books and
cemetery documents at the local
archives.
Population census dated as far
back as 1851, with information on
the soil quality and crops grown in
that area.
The members were shown how to
clean old documents and pictures
using special products and how to
preserve them. They were also
shown how a book, newspaper or
document that had been microfilmed
could be put into a reader from
which information could be
obtained.
The members lunched at the
King's Buffet.
Next on the tour was a stop at the
Antique Warehouse located at the
east side of Stratford. There was a
number of stalls with a large vanety
of dishes, furniture, books, toys and
jewellery to browse through.
Happy Birthday was sung to Marie
McCutcheon. Marie McTaggart and
Kathy Bridge.
A stop was made at a local nursery
near Monkton to purchase flowers.

Bush Whittard, first skunk of
season; Norm Dobson, scoring 0 on
three darts, Catrina Josling, team
skunk award.
Kaye Smith received the Most
skunks of the year plaque. Gifts for
overall darter went to John Harrison
and Marlene Little.
Other gifts were presented to
Kaye, Sandra, Harry, Norm, Adam,
Bush, John, Gord, Lawrence,
Catrina and Marlene for attendance
over 10 times. Extra gifts were
presented to' Mary Dickson, John
and Sheron Stadelmann and Sharon
Glanville for taking part when they
could.
Snacks and fun games concluded
the evening.
The Friday night supper of
meatballs and rice was enjoyed by
all. There is no meal this holiday
weekend.
Our good thoughts for feeling
better go out to Ross Knight, a
patient in hospital.
The Mother's Day dinner was a
great success with over 140 enjoying
the fully-loaded buffet table. Roast
beef and chicken breast, potatoes,
rice and salads offered something
for all.
Thanks to the mothers who
worked so hard that day. '
