Sports Anthony Peters chosen in OHL priority draft Blyth's Anthony Peters is one of Live members of the Huron Perth Lakers AAA Minor Hockey Association selected this past Blyth teen Jenna Rinn recently had the honour of playing broomball at the Nationals (Juvenile level) in Ottwaw. Rinn was chosen by the Windsor Devils to join their team and to compete at this high level tournament. They played teams from Newfoundland, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Quebec and Ontario. weekend in the Ontario Hockey League's Priority Selection Draft. All five were members of the Lakers Minor Midget Team 2005 - 2006. The girls played very well, placing fourth overall. They lost in overtime to Saskatchewan in the semi-finals. Rinn said she was treated very well by the Windsor team and it was an experience she will never forget. Peters, a 6' 1", 170 lb. goaltender was selected by the Oshawa Generals. Peters' older brother Justin played for several seasons with the Jr. A St. Mike's Majors. He was picked up in the NHL draft by the Carolina Hurricanes and spent the past season playing with the Plymouth Whalers. JaMes Marsden a 6' 1", 175 lb. right winger from Exeter, was selected by the Kingston Frontenacs. By Lindsay Kulas Wingham Advance-Times By now, everyone has learned that Wingham has made it through to stage three of the Kraft Hockeyville Contest. Now Wingham needs your support. Wingham's bid for Hockeyville is once again looking to the surrounding communities for support, as the contest enters the home stretch. On a request from CBC, Wingham is being encouraged to collect all the letters and e-mails they can to take to the taping in Hamilton on June 6 and 9. Family, friends and businesses from across Canada are invited to say why they think Wingham deserves to be Hockeyville. The more communities that show support for Wingham, the better. The Wingham Puck-Hogs also plan to arrange another bus trip to the June 9 taping in Hamilton when the top 10 communities will be announced on air. When sending your community endorsement, be sure to include who you are, where you're from and why Wingham deserves the Hockeyville title. The taping of the next video will begin on Tuesday, May 16 at 6:30 Tyler Egerdee, a 5' 9", 175 lb. defenceman from Milverton, was selected by the Mississauga Ice Dogs. Evan Groenestege, a 5' 11", 150 lb. goaltender from Stratford, was selected by, the Owen Sound Attack. Kurtis Bartliff, a 5' 10", 155 lb. left winger from Clinton was selected by the Sarnia Sting. "Our team is looking forward to now tb move ahead to stage four," says director of recreation/facilities Pat Newson, who has already made the first moves to work co- operatively with the town of Hanover -to remind all of - mid- western Ontario to get involved and bring Hockeyville home to the area.
