Brussels Livestock report
Cows sell $5 higher than previous week
Total receipts for Brussels
Livestock for the week ending April
28 were 4,229 head of cattle; 435
lambs and goats. On Tuesday the fed
steers and heifers sold on a steady
market. The choice steers and heifers
sold $94 to $97 with sales to $101.
Second cut sold $90 to $95. Cows
sold $5 higher to last week. On
Thursday the veal sold $5 to $10
lower to last week. The lambs sold on
a strong demand with prices lower. _
On Friday all weights and classes of
stockers sold on a steady market.
There were 431 steers on offer.
Emerson L. Martin, Linwood, con-
signed eight. steers that sold averag,-
ing 1,306 lbs. for $100.68. His top
five limousin steers sold to Dominion
Meat Packers for $101 averaging
1,292 lbs. Schmidt Brooks Farms
Inc., Woodstock, consigned fourteen
steers that sold averaging 1,499 lbs.
,for $96.92. Their to two gold steers
sold to Dominion Meat Packers for
$100.75 averaging 1,528 lbs.
Merkley Furris, Wroxeter, consigned
one steer that sold for $100 weighing
1,200 lbs. Seven steers consigned by
Cleon Wideman, Wallenstein, sold
averaging 1,421 lbs. for $97.98. His
top, three limousin steers sold to
Dominion Meat Packers for $100
averaging 1,465 lbs.
Amos B. Frey, Wallenstein, con-
signed eighteen steers that sold aver-
aging 1.472 lbs. for $97.83. His top
blonde steer sold to Dominion Meat
Packers for $99.75 weighing 1,540
lbs. Ken Shortreed, Walton, con-
signed eleven steers that sold averag-
ing 1,361 lbs. for $94.44. His top bwf
steer sold to St. Helen's Meat Packers
for $99.25 weighing 1,235 lbs.
Sixteen steers consigned by Ron and
Brian Tulloch, Meaford, sold averag-
ing 1,407 lbs. for $90.16. Their top
two black steers sold for $99 averag-
ing 1,343 lbs.

consigned twenty-two steers that sold
averaging 1,416 lbs. for $91.68. Their
top five black steers sold for $98.25

signed twenty heifers that sold aver-

1,323 lbs. Andrew Mitchell,
Listowel, consigned eleven heifers
that sold averaging 1,318 lbs. for
$95.53. His top four black heifers
sold for $99.25 averaging 1,308 lbs.
Darren Johnston, Bluevale, con-
signed twenty-two heifers that sold
averaging 1,321 lbs. for $94.44. His
top three black heifers sold to St.
Helens Meat Packers for $98.50 aver-
aging 1.255 lbs.
Stephen Carter, Lucan, consigned
thirteen heifers that sold averaging
1,328 lbs. for $94.36. His top two
black heifers sold $97.75 averaging
1,260 lbs. Eight heifers consigned by
Andy VanderVeen, Blyth, sold aver-
aging 1,311 lbs. for $94.12. His top
black heifer sold to St. Helens Meat
Packers for $97.75 weighing 1,425
lbs. William Patterson, consigned
five heifers that sold averaging 1,299

ing 1,315 lbs.
There were 182 cows on offer. DI
and D2 cows sold $35 to $45 with
sales to $60.50; D3, $31 to $35; D4,
$12 16 $22. Charlie Codd, Englehart,
consigned three charolais cows that
sold for $60.50 averaging 1,165 lbs.
Murray Bancroft, Milverton, con-
signed one rwf cow that sold for $57
weighing 1,735 lbs. Mike Hern,
Woodham, consigned one limousin
cow that sold for $52 weighing 1,575
lbs.
There were five bulls on offer sell-
ing $35 to $43.50 with sales to
$51.50. Ron Pullman, Centralia, con-
signed one limousin bull that sold for
$51.50 .weighing 2,500 lbs. John A.
Elliott, Ripley, consigned one charo-
lais bull that sold for $47 weighing
2,250 lbs.
There were 256 head of veal on
offer. Beef sold $90 to $110 with
'sales to $123; good holstein, $76 to
$85 with sales to $89.50; medium
holstein, $60 to $75; heavy holstein,
$70 to $75. Mike Durnin, Auburn,
consigned one gold veal steer that
sold for $123 weighing 690 lbs. John
Martin, Lucknow, consigned one
blonde veal heifer that sold for $115
weighing 795 lbs. Les Falconer,
Clinton, consigned one black veal
steer that sold for $115 weighing 610
lbs.
