Melville Guild meets in church parlour The April meeting of the Melville Guild was held in the church parlour on Tuesday evening, April 18 with 10 members present. Dona Knight opened the meeting with the call to worship, Jesus In Our Lives. What a Friend We Have In Jesus was sung and Mrs. Knight led in prayer. Leona Armstrong read a story, Thoughts of a Spring Day and the scripture, Mark 16: 1-15 was read in unison. The topic Walking With God was read by Mrs. Knight and Mrs. Armstrong read a story, Green Hill Near Here. There's a Green Hill Far Away was sung and Mrs. Knight read a poem. 'Tis Spring. Mrs. Armstrong read a story, The Promise of Spring. Mrs. Knight led m prayer to close this part of the meeting. Mrs. Armstrong presided over the business. The minutes of the March meeting were read and approved. The correspondence included an invitation to the spring rally to be held on May 15 at South Kinloss. A thank you was read from Winona Martin's daughter thanking the ladies for the lunch following her mother's funeral. Jeanne Kirkby read the treasurer's report. The springtime supper to he held on April 30 was discussed. Cathrine Campbell and Margaret Work will be in charge of the May meeting. A lunch of hot cross buns, grapes and cheese was served by Mrs. Knight and Mrs. Armstrong. Donation Oncology patient Abi Corbett of Brussels, second from right, recently hosted a Pampered Chef party through her sister Tammy Patterson, right, that raised $300 towards the Wingham and District Hospital oncology unit. The unit has been serving the Wingham area for almost four years and is especially appreciated by cancer patients who no longer have to drive to Kitchener or London for treatments. Corbett expresses gratitude to the people of the Brussels area who contributed to the fundraiser. Accepting the cheque are oncology nurses Barb Pletch. left and Linda Wahl.
