THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, APRIL 27, 2006. PAGE 3.
Sympathy is extended to the
family of Pat Mason on the loss of a
father, grandfather, great-
grandfather. brother, brother-in-law
and uncle. Pat passed away on
Wednesday of last week.
Sorry to hear Ann Hollinger is a
patient in Wingham and District
Hospital.
Euchre results for April 24 will be
in next week's paper.
Don and Marilyn Craig and Bodie
and 011ie Craig were dinner guests at
the home of Joye and Murray Kane
of Fullarton on Friday evening.
BLYTH UNITED CHURCH
Greeting at Blyth United Church
on April 23 were Lois vanVliet and
Emily Dunbar. Ushering were Karen
Glousher, Joann MacDonald, Myrtle
Badley and Rob Mason. Guest
organist was Margaret Kai.
Tom Dunbar welcomed everyone
to church in the absence of Rev.
Robin McGauley, who was attending
the London Conference Youth
Forum as a leader.
.The call to worship was repeated
responsively. The first hymn God
Reveal Your Presence, was followed
by the prayer of confession, and the
assurance of pardon.
The choir sang an anthem, Gentle
Shepherd. -
During their time at the front, Mr.
Dunbar asked the children a
question,. Do you believe? He
demonstrated this by asking them
three questions: Was his middle
name Edward? Was he 6 ft. 4 in. tall?
and did he eat a squishy witching
grub? He showed the children that
said they didn't believe,
identification that proved his middle
name, a measuring stick to measure
his height and yes he did eat the grub
but they would just have to believe
that he ate the' bug as he could not
prove it.
Jon Hakkers held the candle to be
lit and taken down to Sunday school.
Myrtle Badley led responsive
Psalm 150 and read the scriptures
from Matthew 8: 5-13 and John 20:
19-31.
Mr. Dunbar's message to the
adults was Seeing is Believing. He
related the story of Thomas doubting
that Jesus was alive until he saw it
for himself. Jesus appeared to the
disciples in a locked room and asked
Thomas to feel the wounds in His
hands and side. The message is that
it is all right to doubt and to task
questions. .
This was birthday Sunday. all
those with April birthdays and
everyone else were invited to share
in the birthday cake after the
service.-

Blyth residents generous
Jennie Christian, Easter Seals district manager for Huron, Oxford, Perth, and Elgin Counties,
receives the proceeds of this year's contributions from Don, left, and Brent Scrimgeour.
Christian noted that in previous years Blyth residents had donated between $100 and $200
through Scrimgeours' grocery store, which even in a larger community would be an unusually -
large donation. (Carol Burns photo)
