THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, APRIL 27, 2006. • • • • A NOTE FROM BETTY Well April showers may come your way. Hum along now to the oldie as the rain drops do their stuff: We had several nice showers on the weekend with spells of sunshine just Heaven has concerns with deal Continued from page 1 construction work, according to the recommendation. "I asked Beth Ross (county librarian) to say what needs to be in the office and we will go to the design from there. That way we save money on not having a consultant," Seili said. • Councillor Mark Beaven said he was concerned about the deal. "I'm concerned about getting only a library with a lot of money; he said. Councillor David Blaney agreed saying that he would like to see more with the library. -Councillors in the north still have a lot ot work to do before we can come back to report to council," Brussels councillor Frank Stretton said."We need to find out the price on the building and all of the costs." Beaven suggested renting a second building for computer access. "It was very clear ]at the public meeting held in November regarding the library] that a lot of people felt happy with the existing building,' he said. He also stated that the new library location in Blyth doesn't quite meet the criteria outlined by the county. -We might have an argument there.' - McLachlan pointed out that other libraries including the one in Seaforth `also don't quite. match the criteria but are very close. "There was a building available in Blyth." Blaney said. "We don't have one." Councillor Joe Stealer said he would hate to be a part of a council that discriminates against handi- capped people. "The current building doesn't meet the standard," deputy-mayor Bernie. MacLellan said. "01 all of the libraries that were forced to change to meet the ,tandard, there hasn't been one. where the use hasn't increased dramatically." to keep you in a good springy mood. If you're looking to spruce up your flowerbeds and garden be sure to take a close look at the north end of town. Decorations, trellises, tables and other fancy things are available, made right on the premises. Also if you have some painting to do, check out their own invention for keeping the paint in the can. All Ole items look very nice. The variety store is doing its bit to bring spring to the village. The red geraniums look beautiful just waiting for you to take yours home. Earth Day is just past, another time to stop and think about how we treat our world. If each of us used consideration in all our activities we may just keep the ozone level in check. It's very frightening to think what we've destroyed in the past few years by our selfish ways. In just our habits of consuming things that are really not necessities, and driving miles to get them we are causing great harm for our descendants. Time to keep it simple and everybody wins. It's nice to see the walkers out in the early morning now, a welcome home each morning from my night shift, they give a little needed boost at that. time of day. Don't forget to get your ticket for the Presbyterian dinner on Sunday. The Gropp family attended the wedding of Jamie Scott and Sherri Talbot on Safurday. Best man was Sam Kulafofski. Jamie and Sam played for the Brussels Bulls Jr. C teach in the early 1990s. Jamie is a nephew of Mark and Bonnie. Say 'thank you to any' farmers that you meet for growing us the good food that we have to eat. In fact all the agriculture people could use a little moral support I'm sure. Have a nice week and watch the growth of spring. Bye now, Betty G.W.
