Welcome home to travellers
Murray and Olene Dennis. They
have returned from a I4-day tour of
Italy along with 44 other tourists.
They flew to a Rome, a very mod-
ern city, to begin the tour.
While they were in Vatican
Square, Pope Benedict waved and
- blessed the crowd.
They travelled to Venice, the city
of canals, which was lovely.
A trip to Italy would not be com-
plete without a side trip to see the
ruins of Pompeii. In the city of
Verona. they saw the famous veran-
da where Romeo courted Juliet.
Italy is famous for food, wine and
leather. and the Devises enjoyed the
first two but did not indulge in any
new belts or purses. It was cool for
most of their trip, but travelling to
the north part of Italy, they enjoyed
slightly warmer temperatures.
Parrish and Heimbecker held a
meeting on Thursday morning for
Congregation members were
greeted by Ian Wilbee at Duff's
United Church for the Palm Sunday
and communion service.
The choir marched in singing. All
Glory, Laud and Honour and the
children of the Sunday school
passed out palm branches to the con-
gregation. The children went down-
stairs for Sunday school.
The Good Friday service will be at
the regular times for both Walton
and Bluevale.
This Thursday at 8:15 p.m. the
Walton-Bluevale official board will
meet at Duff's Church in Walton.
Grocery tapes would be appreciat-
ed now.
Camp Bimini and Camp
Menesetung forms are here on the
bulletin board.
The choir sang On Humble Beast
Now Rides the King.
The scripture reader was Terry
Gulutzen.
Rev. Joan Tuchlinsky's reflection
was entitled Risky Business. She
recounted a true story of how a blind
neighbour saved another blind
neighbour from her burning, home
and when others were asked why he
would enter a burning building they
said it was no surprise that he would
risk himself as it was "Just the man
he is."
Jesus upon entering Jerusalem
knew it was risky business. He was
challenging those in power and was
aware of the consequences. It was a
choice he made and Christians make
in listening to the voice of God. The
road is not always easy to be pil-
grims of Justice and peace but
Christians are called to challenge the
ways of authority to ensure the equal
treatment of all.
The sacrament of communion was
served by Rev. Joan, Bethany Black,

nearly 50 area farmers. They listened
to guest speakers on planting, herbi-
cides and marketing. They enjoyed a
roast beef dinner catered by the
Walton Hall board.
It was party time at Walton Hall
for Stan and Donna McClure who
celebrated their 25th wedding
anniversary. The evening began with
a family dinner at the home of Paul
and Dianne McCallum, sister of the
anniversary-girl. Also attending were
sister Sharon and Kelly Dalton and
mother Mabel Willis.
A great time was had by all and
the next stop was to be the casino via
Walton. But seeing the cars at the
Walton Hall, they decided to stop
and see if something was wrong?
Surprise!
More family and friends, includ-
ing most of the wedding party for
Stan and Donna, had gathered to sur-
prise the couple. Children Tina, Rob
and Trish arranged a wonderful get-
together for the more than 50 people
who were able to attend.
Most Of the wedding party includ-
ing Dianne, Rhonda Fisher, Carolyn
McClure Johns, Gloria White, flow-
erbirl Laurie McClure, soloist Gail
Semple, Ed McClure, Bill McMillan
and ringbearer, Jamie Dalton attend-
ed.
Entertainment was a rekindling
romantic anniversary package skit
presented by sisters Dianne and
Caleb Ringgenberg and David
Pethick. During the time of com-
munion, Phyllis Mitchell played The
Old Rugged Cross on the violin,
accompanied by Glenda Morrison
oh the organ. The collection was
taken up by Ross Bennett and Jeff
McGavin.
Breakfast followed the morning
service prepared and served by the
Sharon including edible underwear
and earplugs for the kids.
They report having a great time.
Happy anniversary Stan and Donna.
Our condolences to Karen and
Barry Hoegy on the passing of
Karen's aunt Beatrice Nivens.
Darryl Hoegy is off on an adven-
ture to the far north. He drove to
Timmins, then was flown by heli-
copter into Attawathas, which is 40
miles from James Bay. He has gone
there to assemble machines that
were transported in pieces, to be
used in an open pit diamond mine.
He will be gone for two weeks work-
ing I2-hour days, then will return
home.
There were severe snow storms
and he was stranded there for a cou-
ple of days.
The helicopter ride was to take
four hours from Timmins so he is
definitely a long way from home.
The Seaforth Hitmen Juvenile
boys broomball team was in Carlton
Place playing for the Canadian
championships. They had a great
first few days defeating teams from
Windsor. Quebec, Manitoba,
Newfoundland/ Labrador. They lost
to Saskatchewan in game five.
In game six, the quarter-finals,
they lost to the Quebec team. They
advanced to the semi-final game
against Saskatchewan for the bronze
medal and were 1-0 victors in double
Paul McCallum family. They all
helped including Paul, Dianne,
Cindy and Chris Poland, Colleen
McCallum and Scott Bromley, Ken
McCallum and. Meagan O'Reilly.
Delicious eggs, sausage, ham, has
browns, toast, cheese tray, fruit tray,
coffee and juice were enjoyed by
nearly 50. It was a wonderful time to
visit and start, or finish, the week.
