13th commencing at 7:30 p.m.

Chambers. Council shall
present its 2006 Municipal
Budget to the public prior to
its adoption on Wednesday,
April 26th at 7:00 p.m. in the
North Huron Council
Chambers. The public is
invited to attend these
meetings. Additional
information is available by
contacting the Municipal
Office during normal
business hours.

Chamneys greet at United Church

Club
meets
The Be'grave Community Club
met on April 7 with 19 members in
attendance. The meeting opened
with 0 Canada.
The president Muriel Coultes, read
a story entitled The Brick.
The minutes of the previous
meeting were given by Gladys Van
Camp and Laura Johnston gave the
financial report.
After discussion it was agreed to
cover the cost of installing a loud
speaker system in the meeting room
of the arena.
The Zone 8 rally of senior citizens
clubs will be held on Thursday, May
4 with registration beginning at 10
a.m. Anyone wanting dinner tickets
is to have $7 to Laura Johnston
before April 20. The rally will be in
Dungannon.
The next shoot parties will be on
April 21 and April 28.
On Palm Sunday, April 9 Lois
and Stuart Chamney greeted
worshippers and handed out the
service of worship at Knox United
Church.
Jim Barnes introduced Bruce
Whitmore who was the guest
speaker.
The hymn-sing selections were In
My Heart There Rings a Melody,
I Love to Tell the Story, and This
is the Day that God Has
made, accompanied by Elizabeth
Procter.
The Call to Worship and the
Prayer of Confession were read
responsively. The Prayer of
Invocation was read in unison. After
the Words of Assurance the choir
sang Hosanna accompanied by Mrs.
Procter.
After the hymn, He Came Riding
on a Donkey, the children gathered
at the front.
Mr. Whitmore asked the children
to name different ways in which the
palm is used.
Jesus rode on a donkey to
Jerusalem. The people were happy
to see Jesus coming and cut
branches off the palm trees and laid
them on the road. Other people
spread their coats on the road.
They all praised God in loud
voices for the wonderful thing Jesus
had done.
The leaders of the people were
angry as they did not want the
people to follow Jesus.
After the children's prayer they
went downstairs for Sunday school.
The scripture lessons were
Zachariah 9: 9-10, Luke 13: 31-34,
and Matthew 21: 1-13.
The message, based on palms,
parades and politics, focused on the
children's story.
It related to April 5 when the
Ontario farmers were joined with
farmers from other provinces at a
solidarity rally at Parliament
Hill.
This was to give Minister Strahl
Alice Nicholson spent a week in
Hamilton with Margaret and Glyn
Wide. They visited Ron and Lynda
Nicholson on Sunday.
All the family where there to
celebrate Alice's 85th birthday.
Attending were Margaret and Glyn,
Ron and Cindy, Victoria and
Alexandra, Rob and Judy, Dave and
Sherri, and Evan Mathis. It was a
great party. Everyone enjoyed the
time together.
The community extends special
birthday greetings to Alice.
The community extends sincere
sympathy to Dr. Sanford Clare, and
Rev. Ethel Miner Clare and family
on the recent loss of Sanford's
mother, Mrs. Catherine Merle Clare
of Clinton.
Friends, neighbours and relatives
extend sincere sympathy to Joan and
Doug Cloakey and family on the
recent loss of Joan's mother,
Dorothea Louise McArter of
Brussels.
Sympathy is also extended to
and Prime Minister Harper a clear
indication of the anger and
frustration that exists in rural
Canada.
Other hymns that were sung
included Ride On! Ride On in
Majesty, Hosanna, Loud Hosanna
Florence McArter and Jean
Davidson who are sisters-in-law of
Dorothea.
Birthday greetings are extended to
Helen Stonehouse of Braemar
Retirement Home in Wingham. She
celebrated her birthday on April 10.
Many women from Belgrave and
area attended Women's Day Out at
Blyth Memorial Hall on Saturday,
April 8. It was sponsored by the
Blyth United Church Women. The
theme this year was All Around the
Home.
There was musical entertainment
by Cappy Onn. Donna Schmidt from
Heart of the Matter gave the ladies
many helpful ideas. Emily and
Robyn Nicholson and Jessica and
Grant Sparling entertained with
musical numbers. Tom Dunbar
spoke on Feathered Friends.
In the afternoon the women were
entertained with music by Jim and
Elaine Scott.
The fashion show was presented
with attire from Gibson's Men's
Shop, Northern Getaway, Northern
Reflections and Styled To Fit.
Demonstrations included Heart of
the Matter with Donna Schmidt; the
Huron County Health Unit with
pamphlets to pick up on healthy
weights, preventing falls and smoke-
free environment; Just Beyond the
Forest Edge Photography, Sandra
Nicholson; Riverline Nature
Company, Tom Dunbar; Spring
Breezes, Sylvia Nonkes and Town
and All Glory, Laud and
Honour.
Ellen and Carl Procter took up the
offering.
Following the service, lunch and a
time of fellowship were enjoyed
downstairs.

Many of the women won door
prizes or something from/the toonie
draw.
