Letter to the editor
Writer says this battle good for Blyth
THE EDITOR,
I would like to address this to
council members and all people
opposing the Battle of the Bands.
As a younger person, and proud
Blyth resident, I find it quite
upsetting to hear the negative
response to the Battle of the Bands
competition which is to be held in
our town in August. People need to
think of the positive outcome of this
event like, people from all over
Canada coming here, who may not

have heard of Huron County before:
an increase in business, and the best
bands Canada has to offer as the
next up and comings which we
could say got the big break right
here in Blyth.
Everyone needs to have an open
mind for once.
It won't be just rock. There could
be country bands as well.
Besides it's just one day that could
bring different people to our town
for years to come, because let's face
it Blyth and our surrounding
community are beautiful and will
have people wanting to come back.
I hear many complaints about it
going to be noisy but come on
what's a little noise for one day
when the Threshermen's is four? Is
it just because it's not fully geared
towards the older generation?
People say the youth are the future
so why not do something that will
make the youth come to us. I would
love to say Blyth is fully conscious
of the future and is doing what's best
to keep the town alive, and that we
are holding this great event, that is
finally for us and not just the older
generation which we are known for
, doing.
I would like to again stress that it
is just one day of music that could
bring a huge profit to this
community through camping,
lodging at local B&B's and motels
not to mention shopping — because
don't forget, with youth comes
parents, grandparents and friends all
coming out to support their bands
with plenty of time to kill and what
better way to do that than to shop
around the area.
So again as a younger person of
Blyth I make a plea on behalf of our
generation — vote in favour of doing
something different to better our
community. It's just One Day that
will be remembered for years.
A proud Blyth Citizen,
LeeAnn Riley.
Good news does exist as reader shows
THE EDITOR,
As reported recently in The
Citizen, Grey Twp. fire chiefs Cal
Semple and Dave Diehl wish to
decline the raises in pay awarded to
them by Huron East council. They

refreshing and gratifying to see Grey

Bedard said the truck is

Council approved the request.
"Each fire department now has an
