TO THE RESIDENTS
OF BLYTH
Notice of Public Meeting
The Global Ba:tIe of the Bands organization has selected Blyth
as their first choice to host this event. The concert would start at
11:00 a.m. and end around midnight on Saturday, August 26,
2006. North Huron Council is very excited about this opportunity,
however they are concerned about the impact the event may
have on the neighbours close to the field. The sound will carry
and the event runs late into the evening.
We are having a public meeting on Thursday, April 13, 2006 at
7:00 pm to in the meeting room of the Blyth Community Centre.
We invite you to attend to learn more about the event and
express your thoughts.

On Saturday, April 1 The Royal
Canadian Legion Branch 420
celebrated 60 years. A dinner and
dance was held at Blyth Memorial
Hall. During the social hour the
comrades were entertained by
Cappy Onn playing her violin and
Katy Cook who played the guitar
and sang a few songs.
The head table was piped in and a
roast beef dinner put on by the
Anglican church was enjoyed. The
guest speaker, Bill Chafe, Ontario
Command chairman, held
everyone's interest with his
presentation.
John Stewart gave a bit of history
of Branch 420 coming up from the
early years.
Other dignitaries were Janice
Henry, president 420 Blyth Ladies
Auxiliary, MPP Carol Mitchell,
North Huron reeve Doug Layton,
Deputy District Commander Brian
Smith and Zone Cl Commander
Shirley Chalmers.
The turnout was excellent and the
hall was filled to capacity.
It was also an honour to have
present some of the veterans.
Euchre results for April 10 will be
in next week's paper.
Town and Country Support
Services are asking for volunteer
drivers in the Blyth, Belgrave and
North Huron area. If you can spare
some time call Town and Country at
357-3222.
Blyth United Church Women
hosted another successful Women's
Day out with guest speakers Donna
Schmidt from Heart of the Matter
Branch 420 received many
certificates, plaques, congratulations
and a donation from the Ladies
Auxiliary for $10,000.
The night ended with a dance,
entertained by Country Motion.

Tom Dunbar, who spoke on how to
encourage feathered friends to
backyards.
There was lots of local
entertainment such as Cappy Onn,
Grant and Jessica Sparling, Emily
and Robyn Nicholson and Jim and
Elaine Scott. The fashion show was
the highlight of the afternoon with
Gibson's Men's Shop, Northern
Getaway, Northern Reflections and
Styled to Fit taking part.
Everyone enjoyed a salad lunch at
noon and browsed the toonie sale
and demonstrations in the Bainton
Art Gallery. Many door prizes were
drawn to end the day.They will be
holding it again next year on April
14.
BLYTH UNITED CHURCH
Greeting at Blyth United Church
on April 9 were Lois van Vliet and
Tom Dunbar. Ushering were Lois
van Vliet, Emily Phillips and Karen
Glousher. Guest organist was Lynda
MacGregor.
Jon Hakkers announced the
processional hymn All Glory, Laud
and Honour. The Sunday school
children proceeded up the side aisles
waving palm branches which they
laid in front of the altar.
The choir came down the centre
aisle.
The Lord's Prayer was sung and
the children went down to Sunday
school.
The Good Friday service is at 8
p.m.
The first hymn Hosanna, Loud
Hosanna, was followed by the
prayer of Approach and Confession
and the Assurance of Grace.

favoured the congregation singing I
Sale at library
The Friends of Blyth Library look
forward to welcoming all to the
new community library.
Very soon, the library plans to
move to a new home at 390 Queen
St. This new space will be bigger,
brighter and more accessible for
everyone.
Before the move, a moving sale
of books is being held. It is open all
regular library hours until moving
day.
The Friends are also on the
lookout for pictures of the library
from days gone by.

Believe in a Hill Called Mount
Calvary. A drama, Women of
Passion: Journeys of Discipleship
was performed by Cappy Onn,
Jessica Sparling and Emily Phillips.
Rev. McGauley read the
scriptures: Luke 8: 1-3, Mark 14:
12-16 and Matthew 27: 11-20, 24.
Cappy Onn told the story of how
Joanna, a general's wife left her life
of riches and went to follow Jesus.
Jessica Sparling told the story of
Mary Magdalene and the last supper
and Emily Phillips told the story of
Pilate's wife having a dream. She
told her husband not to have
anything to do with this just man.
The next hymn Faith of Our
Fathers was followed by the Prayers
of the People.
The last hymn was Ride On! Ride
On in Majesty.
