Family celebrates occasion with dinner
Continued from page 23
Mary McCall. Family gathered at
Wong's restaurant to celebrate the
85-year-young Mary. Son Jack with
Doreen and Jared, son Murray with
Sherry, Carali, Marci, Shawna with
Doug, Jadon and Colton, sisters-in-
law Isabel, with husband Frank
Barke and Lois McCall, nieces Mary
and Joyce Ireland and Marion Hunt
were all in attendance to enjoy a
wonderful time together.
A special gift for Mary was a
picture of Mary and her brother Jim
with their parents, taken many years
ago. This was given to her by the
Ireland girls. Making it extra special
was also the attendance of Marci and
Carali, flying in from England.
Carali is on a month's break from
school, so will be able to visit
Grandma a few more times before
returning in a couple of weeks.
Marci and Carali enjoyed the Cruise
the World show as well on Saturday,
with Marci returning home later on
Sunday.
It was a perfect day and
congratulations to Mary from her
many Walton friends.
Judy Lee and myself, Sandra
Josling, Lisa Glanville and Anne
Pelletier enjoyed a fantastic gourmet
meal in Goderich on Sunday at the
home of John Rutledge and Bill
Curry.
Our adventure started on arrival in
the sitting room with hot hors
d'oeu'vres and martinis along with
egg salad and pepper jelly on
pumpernickel appetizers.
Moving to the dining room that
was set with John's grandmother's
good china; we began our meal with
egg drop soup. A different wine was
served by sommelier John with each
course.
The entree of duck and quail a
l'orange with Queen Anne rice and
asparagus followed. An entertaining

baptism.
The theme of the service was
water.
Being baptized were Meg Kathryn
Fritz, daughter of Greg and Jill Fritz.
The collection was gathered by
Ross Bennett and Jeff McGavin.
time Of eating the quail and finding
the wish bones had the guests
enjoying themselves immensely.
A lovely mandarin spinach salad
followed the entree, An absolutely
delicious lemon ice was served to
cleanse the pallette before the
flaming crepe suzette was presented
by the amazing chef of the evening,
Bill Curry.
Fresh baked caraway rye rolls and
Ethiopian coffee, along with more
wine, was enjoyed during the meal.
There was lots of great
conversation, reminiscing of Aunt
Maggie's hamburgers in Brussels,
changes in the town and getting to
know everyone filled in the time
from 5 to 9:30 p.m. that we sat at the
table.
It was a relaxing and thoroughly
enjoyable evening and meal.
Upon departure we received a
parting gift of homemade barbecue
sauce.
It was probably a once-in-a-
lifetime exposure to fine dining that
we will all remember and savour for
quite awhile.
Thanks to John and Bill for this
wonderful experience which they
donated to the Brussels Legion
auction last year.
