In making the presentation Branch 218 first vice-president Jo-Ann McDonald said District Command had to approve the award from an application sent in by the local Legion. It stated that the Optimists have always been a strong supporter of the local Legion branch. They held monthly meetings at the hall until aquiring a building of their own. They share equipment to assist the Legion with its fundraising fish fries and have donated a small storage building to the Legion as well as a portable building. "They are a group that is eager to help out and is always supportive of the Legion's endeavours," said McDonald.
