At the Branch
12 at
meeting
By Jo-Ann McDonald
The general meeting of the
Brussels Legion Branch was held on
Tuesday evening with 12 comrades
in attendance.
There were many issues of
business to pass and motions to
make. Donations to various groups
were made.
For the sports committee,
Comrade Rick McDonald reported
on attending the District sports
meeting. He has the summer sports
sheets for horseshoes, golf and
seniors' golf.
Interested comrades need to get in
and check out the dates for these
sports in May.
The nominating committee is
making progress in filling the
positions available at the Branch.
Elections are April 25 at the general
meeting at 8 p.m.
The anniversary committee
reports that the guest speaker they
were seeking is unavailable in
September for the 75th celebration.
They will discuss other ideas or if
any comrade has an idea, call
chairman Eric ROss.
Seniors chairmen Charlie and
Grace Proctor reported on the
seniors project they are working on.
They are collecting pictures of the
servicemen who served in the war,
in uniform and in civilian life, along
with any info family might have.
If you have any pictures of your
loved ones that should be included.
call Grace or drop them into the
Legion. Copies will be made and the
originals returned to the families.
The book is coming along great
and any help with more pictures or
information is appreciated.
Congrats to Charlie and Grace for
working so hard on this project.
The Thursday night darts saw 11
darters taking aim at the boards. The
first-place team was Catrina Josling,

The Legion's Friendship Award was presented this year to the Brussels Optimists. In making
the presentation Branch 218 first vice-president Jo-Ann McDonald said District Command had
to approve the award from an application sent in by the local Legion. It stated that the Optimists
have always been a strong supporter of the local Legion branch. They held monthly meetings
at the hall until aquiring a building of their own. They share equipment to assist the Legion with
its fundraising fish fries and have donated a small storage building to the Legion as well as a
portable building. "They are a group that is eager to help out and is always supportive of the
Legion's endeavours," said McDonald. From left: Optimist president Kevin Deitner, McDonald,
