Blyth, Brussels
Tykes faceoff
Blyth Tyke Is travelled to Brussels
on Saturday March 18 for a 10 a.m.
game.
Scoring was started early in the
game by Blyth's Cody Treble on an
unassisted effort.
Brussels came back a little later in
the period with a goal off the stick of
Wyatt Machan. Nic Zwep scored
later.
Hunter Dale got the second goal
for Blyth unassisted.
Brussels Novices moved on in
playoffs. They travelled to Hanover.
The hosts came out strong and put
in two quick goals, then scored
again.
But Brussels didn't give up and
Wyatt Ducharme finally bulged the
twine.

maneuvered the puck to give the
forwards chances at the other end.
The Plaetzer boys, Jamie and Jeff
helped give chase to move the puck
quickly out of Blyth's zone.
The second period was all
Sunderland as they score three more
goals. Austin Sjaarda added another
mark on the board for Blyth, assisted
by Chalmers and Cody Richmond to
end the score at the second 5-3 in
Sunderland's favour.
Two quick goals by Sunderland at
the start of the third set the Dogs on
their heels. Although Stevenson
Blyth's third goal was scored by
the passing duo of Drew Bromley
scoring from a pass from Dale.
Brussels goalie Emily Mitchell
made some great saves to keep them
in the game. Jeremy Wilts did an
awesome job in net for Blyth
stopping shot after shot.
The Tykes wrap up the year with
their year-end tournament in
Hensall on Saturday, March 25 with
their first game at 9 a.m.
with another.
Brussels finished up with Kai
Heimstra scoring to make the final
score 4-2.
Hanover came back to Brussels
the next night. It was another good
game.
Ducharme scored the one and only
Brussels goal in this 3-1 effort.

Sunderland's favour.
Blyth Bulldogs pipe-keepers Alec
Lorenz and Willie Haines worked
hard behind their team to keep the
score close. Teammates, out with
injuries, are Kevin Pennington and
John Lecomte, who both hope to get
back into the fray soon.
Coach Finch believes this series is
"do-able" and with the next game in
Sunderland hopes the Dogs enjoy a
taste of wings to head back to Blyth
on Sunday for a 3 p.m. game.
The family of Jack and Doreen
Marks celebrated Jack's 50th
birthday with a supper at their home
on Saturday, March 18.
Later that evening a surprise
birthday party was held with many
of his friends attending to help
celebrate this special occasion.
Friends and neighbours wish Jack
a happy 60th birthday.
On Saturday, March 18, the family
of Ethel and Dr. Sanford Clare
celebrated Sanford's 65th birthday
with a noon buffet in the basement of
Knox United Church. This was
catered by the United Church
Women.

There were 10 tables of shoot in
play on Friday, March 10 at the
Belgrave Community Centre.
Winners were: high lady, Jane
Grasby; second high lady, Louise
Schiestel; most shoots, Irlma Edgar;
high man, Mary Hunter; second high
man, Bev Hayden; most shoots,
Gord Bosman.
The next shoot is Friday, March 24
at 1:30 p.m.
And the winners are...
The winners of the Thursday night early draw played the
winners of the Friday night draw to play for the Casemore
Cup at the Wingham Curling Club, March 19. The winners
were the Friday night team of, clockwise from bottom: skip
Chris Cottrill, lead Sue Wai, vice Jessica Logtenberg and

March 19, the family of Ethel and
Dr. Clare invited everyone
downstairs for lunch in recognition
of Sanford's birthday.
Lunch, complete with birth-
day cake, was enjoyed by
everyone.
