House fire
A house fire on St. Michael's Road in Morris Twp. on Thursday, Feb. 16 damaged the second
storey of the home owned by Ron Gordon. The fire was started by a plugged chimney, fire chief
Paul Josling said. No one was hurt but Gordon was taken to the Wingham and District Hospital
for observation. Blyth area fire-fighters arrived on the scene at 10:30 a.m. after receiving the
call. A snowplow had to be called to get better access to the house but the fire trucks were
able to get to the scene before the plow arrived. The roof of the house was destroyed and there
is significant water damage, Josling said. (Heather Crawford photo)

Congratulations to Marie Coutts
on the birth of a great-grandson in
Alberta. Granddaughter Pam and her
husband, named their new son
Kaden. Grandparents are Allan and
Karen Carter of Seaforth, who have
travelled to the west to welcome the
newest 'member of the family,
Welcome back to Brenda
Finlayson who is cooking at the
Walton Inn while Joyce Marcuccio
is taking some time off.
There was a gathering of friends at
the Walton Hall for a fun time. The
group consisted of people who went
to school together and were friends
together as teenagers and young
couples. They celebrated Nelson
Ryan's birthday as well.
Organizers were Lorne and
Bonnie Glanville. They enjoyed a
great day and potluck supper.
The weather has certainly been the
talk everywhere. Stormy weather
keeps everyone at home and for most
that shouldn't be so bad. Snow days
are the days that allow me to catch
up on some things that are easier to
put off.
The first snow day gave me the
chance to do some sorting of clothes.
To keep or not to keep, that is the
question. Will I ever lose the weight
to fit that dress again — chances are
"slim".
Most people have more clothes
than they need, but are like me and
have trouble sorting through them
and saying — it has to go.
The second snow day was spent
catching up with the books. Trying
to find everything needed for income
tax and having it ready. It may not
seem like it but in only 10 weeks, it
will be April 30 and tax deadline
time.
It should also be spring and better
weather. Let's just enjoy the bad
weather now in February so we can
enjoy spring weather in April.
