`Oklahoma' opens
Playhouse season
Drayton Entertainment artistic
director Alex Mustakas recently
announced the 2006 playbill for
Huron Country Playhouse.
Twenty productions will be
presented at Drayton
Entertainment's six venues in the
2006 season.
"2006 is a very exciting year for
our organization, as we complete the
transition from a seasonal operation
to a year-round theatre company,"
Mustakas said. "No matter what
time of year, there will be something
playing somewhere, which only
serves to benefit our valued
theatregoers."
The musical Oklahoma will kick
off the season on May 30 and run
unto June 17.
From June 20 to July 1 the
playhouse will present Cotton Patch
Gospel, another musical this time set
in contemporary Georgia that retells
the gospel according to Matthew and
features the final work of songwriter
Harry Chapin.
Corpse!, a suspense thriller
running from July 5-22, is about a
struggling, out-of-work actor who
engages a shady character to do
away with his rich brother so that he
can lay claim to his fortune and his
identity.
Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story
about the life and career of the
popular musician returns again this
upcoming season from July 26 to
Aug. 12.
Gilbert and Sullivan's comic
operetta, The Mikado will run from
Aug. 16 until Sept. 2.
At Playhouse II, in Grand Bend,
theatregoers will have the
opportunity to see The Foursome, a
golfing comedy by • Norm Foster.
The Foursome runs from July 19
until Aug. 20.
The Drayton Festival Theatre will
feature Anne of Green Gables, a
musical from May 3 until June 10;
the British farce Not Now, Darling
from June 13 until July 15;
Sorry...I'm Canadian from Aug. 1
until Sept. 2; Twist and Shout: the
British Invasion from Sept. 5 until
Oct. 28.
The Schoolhouse Thea)re in St.
Jacobs will present the popular
musical comedy Nunsense from
Sept. 20-Dec. 31.
The St. Jacobs Country Playhouse
presents Dial M for Murder from
Feb. 8-26; Cotton Patch Goipel
from March 29 until April 16; Cats
from June 20 until July 15; Corpse!
from Oct. 11-29; and Aladdin from
Nov. 23 to Dec. 17.
The King's Wharf Theatre in
Penetanguishene will feature
Nunsense from June 6-24; The
Foursome from June 28 to July 15;
Not Now, Darling from July 19 to
Aug. 5; and Anne of Green Gables
from Aug. 9 to Sept. 2.

Summer Company is an
opportunity for youth to realize their
dream of operating a business and
being their own boss, and winning
an award of up to $3,000 at the same
time.
This program, sponsored by the
Ministry of Economic Development
and Trade (MEDT) is entering its
sixth year in Huron County.
Since its inception, 25 Summer
company awards have been granted
in Huron and 25 young people were
allowed to spread their wings and try
out a new business idea.
Applications can be accepted on-line

in early April.
Training and mentorship is
provided during the summer by a
group of volunteer community
mentors.
Financial assistance with start-up
costs (up to $1,500) is available and,
upon successful completion of the
program requirements, the student
will be eligible for an additional
award of up to $1,500.

the Huron Business Centre in
