THE EDITOR,
There is an amazing
opportunity available to any
who are interested in
investing in our agricultural
industry and our community.
That opportunity comes in the
form of the beef processing
plant proposed for the
Brussels area.
Hats off to Huron East
council for their proactive
approach. I trust that the
greater community will
support their efforts and
please remember we are all
part of that community.
This proposal will bring
many different kinds of
benefits to all of us in Huron
and Bruce Counties. There
are many voices expressing
concern about lack of
funding, but government
funding is already a
probability; at least in part.
There is also much wealth
in the form of investment
dollars available in the
pockets of community
members to fund this
venture.
I challenge all of us to take
up the reins and run with this.
The money spent may very
well turn an excellent profit
investing in this plant, but
more importantly we can be
assured of our own
investment in the lives of
those around us. This is one of
those golden opportunities
that will see all our lives
improved.
Take up the challenge and
don't get lost in the nickels-
and dimes. While nickels and
dimes are important;
sometimes value is found in
things besides money. This
project will have a positive
effect on a lot of families.
Respectfully yours,
Bob Hulley.

Letter to the editor
Writer praises initiative

a minority before," Steckle
said. "I have been in a
minority situation however
and I know what it is to work
for a consensus."
Being on the critical side
rather than the criticized will
be new for the MP he said.
"I'm generally a very positive
person so I don't likc to be
critical but I will put pressure
on the government where it is
appropriate."
Agricultural issues will be
a top priority he said. "We
need to put agriculture at the
front foremost. Farmers need
something bankable going
into the spring and that's
what we need to work on. We
need to move forward with
the risk management
prograM and do an overhaul
of CAIS. I will be holding the
Conservative Party
responsible."
As for the immediate
future, Steckle said he will
spend the next few days
cleaning up. "We'll be going
around, collecting the
campaign signs and cleaning
the offices and then maybe
I'll find a chair, sit down and
have a little rest."
