(Heather Crawford photo) Terry, Debbie, Jennifer and Brendan Pierce travelled to Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico to celebrate Christmas at the Vallarta Palace. They enjoyed a tour of the city of Puerto Vallarta, a sunset cruise, horseback riding and parasailing. Debbie and Jennifer spent Christmas day at the spa. Chip stayed with Granny and Uncle Paul. Congratulations to Terry and Julie Daer of Barrie on a new baby sister for Josh. Alexis was born Jan. 11. This is a first granddaughter for Nancy and Ed Daer of Wingham. Betty Bowes is in Seaforth hospital. The Swinging Seniors meeting is on Wednesday, Jan. 25. Potluck lunch is at noon. BLYTH UNITED CHURCH Greeting at Blyth United Church on Sunday, Jan. 15 were Joann MacDonald and Judy Gleave. Ushering were Brenda and Lori Brooks, Sharon Bromley and Myrtle Badley. Guest organist was Margaret Kai. Emily Phillips welcomed everyone to church and invited them to share the news of their lives with others around them. The call to worship was followed by the first hymn All the Way My Saviour Leads Me, the Prayer of Approach, the Prayer of Confession and the Assurance of Grace. The choir sang an anthem, I See a New Heaven. The children's hymn was Jesus Loves Me. Mrs. Phillips read the Ten Commandments while the children were handed a piece of paper with a symbol of what the commandments meant to them. The singing of The Lord's Prayer was followed by the lighting of the candle. Quinton Hakkers carried the candle downstairs to Sunday school. The scripture readings were the Ten Commandments, Psalm 15 and Matthew 19; 16-19 read by Joan Clark. Mrs. Phillips' message to the adults was Resolutions. People make resolutions on Jan. 1 and nine out of 10 have failed by this time.
