In memoriam
DAVIDSON. In loving memory of
Jack Davidson, January 17, 2005.
If tears could build a stairway,
And memories could build a lane,
We would walk all the way to
heaven,
To bring you home again.
We think of you in silence,
We often speak your name,
But all we have are memories,
And your pictures in a frame.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you did not go alone,
For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.
— Forever in our hearts and missing
you always, wife Connie, Mother
and families. 02-Ip

North Huron
council briefs
David Lew, manager, land
ambulance operations sent a copy of
the letter of agreement for tiered
response to North Huron council at
the Jan. 3 meeting.
Lew was looking for their
approval as a step in the process for
approval from county council.
Councillor Arnold Taylor said the
agreement was circulated to give
participating parties an opportunity
to look at the form before it was put
together and that there would not be
any changes in Blyth.
Council passed a motion to
approve the agreement.

The City of Port Hope Colborne is
seeking support from council in its
request that "the Province of Ontario
provide relief and remedy for
working families and seniors who
are hardest hit by unacceptable
spikes in the cost of living and by the
likely property tax increases to
come."
The letter also requested that the
province end its downloading of
provincial programs and the use of
municipal property tax dollars for
the subsidization of provincial
service programs.
Taylor said he agreed with the
request because of this last statement
and council passed a motion to
support the request.

The City of Sarnia has requested
that the Minister of Finance and
Minister of Municipal Affairs and
Housing defer the 2006 MPAC
assessment values until the
Ombudsman's investigation into the
MPAC process of property assessment
has been completed.
Clerk-administrator John Stewart
explained that although Huron County
has been using market value
assessments for "a lot of years," it is
new this year to many places and some
cities would like an assessment to see
whether or not there is a better way of
getting property assessments.
Council passed a motion to support
this request.

Councillor Jim Campbell reported
on the Dec. 20 police services board
meeting.
A new officer was hired in
Wingham. Kevin McAdam from
Cobourg was selected out of five
applicants for the position. He will
start Ontario Police College training
on Jan. 6 and has already been on ride-
alongs with the Wingham officers.

program in Wingham.
"I don't see why, if children don't
go to school in Wingham, (parents)
would want to send their children
there. I can see, if a parent works in
Clinton, they may want to go to the
program in Clinton, or if they work in
Wingham to use the program in
Wingham," she said.
Huron County Child Care Services
are not looking into transportation for
people in Blyth to Wingham.
"The idea is to expand child care for
the county," McDonagh said. Fifty
new child care spaces are expected to
be set up in the whole county with 20
in Wingham.
The plan for implementing the Best
Start Program is expected to be ready
by county council on Jan. 31.
