Tips for responsible gambling
(NC) — For many people,
gambling is exciting and
entertaining. They make careful
decisions about spending time and
money, where to go and how to have
fun.
The following are some ways
people gamble responsibly:
• Gamble for entertainment, not as a
way to make money
• Balance gambling with other
leisure activities
• Only use discretionary income,
not money for everyday expenses
• Set a budget and stick to it. If you
have lost the money you budgeted
for gambling — stop
• Don't borrow money to gamble
• Avoid on-site cash machines for
additional gambling money

The Saugeen Maitland Lightning
girl's hockey team played some of
their best hockey while participating
in the Mississauga Christmas
Tournament on Dec. 27 and 28.
Although the girls did not lose a
game, they were, however, unable to
advance to the semi-finals due to
mathematical calculations.
The girls won their first game
against Bluewater by a score of 2 - 0.
Cassy Stafford earned the shutout,
while Jenny Bults scored a
powerplay goal and Kendall
Whitfield scored shorthanded.
Later in the day, they played
Stoney Creek and came up with
another win Syd Brown had a
shutout in net, while Laurie Sinclair
scored the lore goal of the 1 - 0
game
Wednesday was a busy day as the
Lighting faced some of the top
ranked teams in Ontario. The first
game was played against Markham
Stouffville 85 and the game ended in
a I - I tie. Janette Hammell scored the
first goal of the game, but the
Markham team tied it up at the end
of the second period. In the evening
game, the Lightning played against a
highly skilled Sudbury team. Again,
Hammell scored the first goal of the
game. however, the Sudbury girls
were able to take advantage of their
powerplay to tie the game.
The l-t tie gave the girls six
points, tied for first with Sudbury
and Guelph. However, when the
calculations were made considering
"goals for, and goals against" the
Lightning came up one goal short, so
were not able to advance out of their
eight-team division, to the semi-
finals.
