:Mr. William E. Cartwright, dentist,
who has been a resident of this place
for over two years; left last week to
take up'his abode in the thriving vill-
age of Wiraton. We are sorry to
loose him, as W. E. was a good citizen.
We wish him every prosperity in his

Kansas Wheat
We received from Miss Mary Sand-
ers, of Salina, Kansas, a sample of
wheat and rye which is grown in that
section. The wheat is in full head and
fully 3 ft. 3 in. long. The rye is also
in full head and is over 4 ft. long,
Kansas is a grain growing country
from the appearance of the samples re-

He, Mr. Mattice thought it hardly fair
for him to find the timber and put
down the crossing himself. It was
agreed by the council to put down
crossing,providing Mr. Mattice furnish
the timber. Mr. Hardy waited on the
council regarding high school matters.
He, Mr. Hardy said that the commit-
tee visited the municipalities of Hay,
Stephen, and Usborne, and they were
all favorable to the scheme uniting with
Exeter as a high school district. The
clerk was instructed to write the
1 eeve,inviting the council of the above
municipalities, requesting them to at-
tend a meeting, to be held in Town
Hall, on 19th of June, at the hour of
ten o'clock, to discuss matters pertain-
ing to high school. Tender were received
for delivery of pine timber from the
following people viz: -A. Secord, $11.-
50 per thousand feet, at Goderich; P.
D. Bell, $12; per thousand, dela here.
Ross & Taylor, $13.50 per thousand,
del, here; Dyer & Howard, $13.25 per
thousand del, here. Moved by T. B.
Carling, seed by T. H. McCallum, that
in case Mr. Bells timber and agree-
ment is satisfactory to any two mem-
bers of the council, that his tender be
accepted, Moved by Mr. Oarling,sec'd
by Mr. McCallum thatwe adjourn to
meet Monday June 4th.
