The report of the road and bridge committee ne passed recommended that snowsbields be added to the Au- burn bridge and to the bridges on the Prairie road south of \Vingham; that no action be token respecting; repave suggested for Esetee bridge; that a bridge be built on the Hayfield r. a i opposite Mr, lelurney's property; that the committee be given power to tree rut;pecting ibe erection of a footbridge on the Fisher bridge at Winghem, the work to be under the supervision of the county engineer; that the town- ships of Morris and East Wawenobb attend to the repairing of their share of the road south of Wingham and that the approaches to the bridge be properly repaired; and that the engin- eer have the Maitland bridge abut- ment, which was damaged by under- mining. repaired as soon as possible. Respecting the request from Ashfield council that the county take over the bridge en the Nine utile River on the road between the 1th and 5th conces- sions, it was advised that no •netion be taken at present, but that the com- mittee be empowered to deal with the matter at a later date with the advice of the solicitor. The committee reported that the Smith, Stanlake, Black Creek and Eleven Mile Creek bridges, all on the boundary of lay and Stephen, had been beepected on May 2Ist and '32nd. Some important repairs were men- tioned which should be undertaken, The bridge at St, Joseph was found in good repair and the work dond an it last year was approved. A crack in the north abutment of the Hayfield bridge was recommended to be filled with cement. In Goderieh township, lake road, the Wallace and Dunlop bridges were inspected. The ap- proaches to the fotmer need Borne repairs, while the Dunlop bridge is au old structure and will have to be re- built, The engineer the report con- cluded, is asked to have these wotks concluded at an early date. Messrs James A. Ford and C. Stew- art, delegates to tho Good Roads con- tention at Toronto in March present- ed a report of their visit to the meeting and,. recommended that the council, should at once adopt the Good Roads system. The executive committee's report as passed recommended that a grant of $2,500 be made for the purchase of a Children'e Aid bhelter and that a com- mittee be appointed with power to procure a suitable house by purchase or rent for such purpose, providing the purchase price does not exceed $2,500; that a grant of $3,400 be made to Red Cross Societies, to be distributed on the came basis as the previous grant to Societies doing Red Croy; work; that the sum or $100 be placeif to the credtt of the Women's War Auxiliary; that the Warden be instructed to sign documents pertaining to the sending of a ward of the county to the Sick Children's Hospital at Toronto. - On motion of Messrs Harding and Neeb Messrs Lobb, Livingstone and Stewart (eleafortb) were appointed a committee to deal with (he matter of securing a Children's Aid shelter. The report of1the county property committee, as passed, recommended that -Abe gaoler's request for floor paint and ten yards of seaweed car- pet be granted; that Registrar Coats' request for a new furnace or repairs to the old one in hie office be granted; as the old one had been over thirty years in use and was not giving satis- faction; that thd•furnace at the court house be repaired, the boiler inspected, a pipe ;from, the roof repaired and paint furnished for the floor of the hall; aleo that the request of D, Mc- Donald for shelving be granted.
