Baptism at United Church
Snowflakes in the air and snow -
covered roads were no deterrent to

witness the baptism of Bayley
Helene Pel low. daughter of Sean and
Sara Pellow ot London and Kiara
Jean Taylor Driscoll, daughter ol
Ben and Crystal Driscoll of Kinburn.
The parents of each wee girl were
presented with a candle to represent
a new light in God's world.
Blaine and Kelly Marks greeted
churchgoers and Mike and Shannon
Clark did the ushering. The senior

a Bed of Straw.

Here comes Santa
Students and teachers filled the school with laughter during
Brussels Public School’s Christmas concert Dec. 10.
Santa, played by Zach Hoegy, is comforted by a friendly elf,
played by Matthew Cardiff after he learns he has a terrible
cold and cannot deliver the presents on Christmas Eve.

The cost of garbage
Continued from page 10
What started out as being an
environmental advantage in some
cases is turning out to be profit
oriented. Apparently markets are not
being found for what seems should
be recyclable. Consequently more
garbage is going to landfill sites than
was first thought would be the case.
Conducting the Advent Litany and
lighting the candle ol )oy were Jcfl
and Kim Roetci sounder. Melissa and
Curtis.
Rev. Cook's message this third
Sunday of Advent again focused on
being ready for the coming of the
Messiah.
The supporting scripture passage
from Luke was an account of John
the Baptist speaking with three
sectors of peoples of his time. As he
foretold the coming of Christ he
suggested all of them reorder their
lives in preparation.
Similarly as we await the
celebration of the birth of Christ.
Rev. Pat suggested John’s advice
applies to today’s Christians. We
need to reorder our living and give
thought to those who can use our
help; and set an example of our lives
to others by sharing and caring.
Who of us could have dreamed
garbage would become such an
issue? That being said the premise of
recycling still is the right one to
choose.
Christmas thought of the week:
“Christmas is the day that holds all
time together.” - Alexander
Smith.
Kelly Stevenson read the minute
for mission which was the story ot
how the work of an African
missionary impacted on a young
listener. Since that time, that person
has learned about the various
services and work supported by the
United Church’s mission and service
fund across Canada and around the
world.
Senior choir will practise at 9:45
a.m. on Sundav, Dec. 21.
The Christmas Eve service begins
at 7 p.m. That evening's offering
will be dedicated to the mission and
service fund as Londesborough
congregation is short of its objective
for 2003.
Secretary Harnett Shillinglaw
asks that information for the Dec. 28
order of service be filed by 9:30 a.m.
on Dec. 23.
