volunteer groups and
organizations that are planning
events or efforts that enhance
our community. This plan
acknowledges the strength and
value of local volunteer groups
and lays the way for improved
communication and support.
In the past years the
economic development
committee was instrumental in
the environmental cleanup of
the railway lands, in the
development of the airport, of
accessing natural gas to the area
and in supporting the growth of
Wescast. The committee is
working on an ongoing basis,
with a number of contacts to
attract new business to the area.
These efforts include meetings
with Federal representatives
with regard to hosting an
International Industry Investors
Tour.
The recent working
agreement with the Wingham
and Area Chamber of
Commerce has enabled our
community provide a tourism
information centre. As the
gateway to Huron County from
the north and the gateway to
Bruce County from the south
we are strategically located to
become a must-stop area.
This past summer the
economic development
committee acknowledged the
impact that the weekend
east/west traffic can have on our
community and supported
community businesses with a
large sign inviting travellers to
stop.
The committee is also
looking at the value and
potential of winter sports to our
community.
The committee sees and
understands the need for
communication and welcomes
signed written submission, the
committee also plans on
producing a newsletter and is in
the final stages of printing a
visitor’s brochure.
North Huron has many assets.
The ability to promote and
enhance these assets for
residents, visitors and potential
investors is an ongoing goal of
the economic development
committee.
Through evaluating,
enhancing, packaging and
marketing our community, we
aim to strategically place North
Huron on the investors’ map,
reinforcing that North Huron is
a great place to do business.
Protect the
Environment.
Reduce.
Reuse.
Recycle.
