Remembrance Day focus of meeting
The Cranbrook WMS ladies met
in Brussels at the home of Lois
Schneider for their Remembrance
Day program.
Freda Crawford opened the
meeting with a short poem which led
into the story about the importance
of the work of the Red Cross.
Scripture was read from
Thessalonians 5: 11-23.
A letter was read from a 17-year-
old soldier which had been written
back in 1918. He was on the front
lines in Amiens, France. With shells
falling all around him he prayed to
God for help.
He showed amazing maturity in
the face of danger.
Hymn Lead On O King Eternal
was read.
From St. Matthew members read
in unison The Lord’s Prayer
following which the leader closed
with a prayer asking for stronger
faith to do God’s will.
President Yvonne Knight, asked
Secretary Eleanor Stevenson to read
the minutes of the last meeting. Roll
call was answered with a verse on
remembering.
Donna Knight, treasurer, gave a
talk of givings. From the Glad
Tidings members read that
$314,071.75 has been sent to head
office up to the end of August, a
little more than last year.
Brenda Perrie introduced a new
study book which tells of the Bhil
people from western Africa.
Members learned that two Scottish
ministers, Mr. and Mrs. John
Buchanan came from Scotland to
work among these poor people.
They read about disease and poor
living conditions. They are much in
need of God’s help.
The meeting closed with the
Mizpah Benediction.

Use full rural address for mailing
By Bonnie Gropp
Citizen editor
With December just days away,
people will soon be getting those
packages and Christmas cards ready
for mailing.
While the suggested date for
surface delivery of small packages
and parcels has passed for most
places, there is still time to get those
parcels there by air.
Postmaster Shelley Jorritsma of
Brussels stressed that timeliness is
key. ‘The sooner you get a parcel on
its way, the better.”
By air to Africa or Central and
South America, cards, letters, small
packages and parcels should be in
the mail Dec. 1. The recommended
date for air delivery to Asia.
Australia. New Zealand, the
Caribbean. Europe and the Middle
East is Dec. 8. Packages and mail
going to the U.S. by air should be
posted Dec. 12.
The suggested mailing date for
surface delivery to the States is this
Friday.
Regarding the rural mail delivery,
Jorritsma explains that both the 911
address and the rural route should be
included on the envelope.
Jorritsma explains that by using
both, it allows the best option for
most efficient service. “The rural
route is a big area of recognition in
the post office. If a person were to

correct rural route, it could be

Conversely while the rural route
may be familiar, the use of the 911
with it in the address pinpoints the
exact location. “There are times
when someone addresses a card to
Grandma. With the 911 number this
gives the specific place so we know
exactly who Grandma is.”
Best wishes Nov. 27 to Fred and
Teune Smith on their anniversary.
Congratulations to Mark and
Tracy Swart on the birth of their
third child, a daughter, Jenna
Angeline Lena born Nov. 11.
The Knights were busy this past
weekend. Dona and Jim Knight’s
