Blyth Bantams glide to win
Digging for the puck
It was a good game between the Blyth and Brussels Tykes
on Nov. 22 as a Blyth player tries to take the puck down to
score while a Brussels player attempts to stop the play.

Brussels, Blyth play
Brussels Tyke goalie Hayden
TenPas had a fairly quiet time in net
when the team hosted Blyth
Saturday morning.
Brody TenPas got the scoring
started with two quick goals in the
first period. Wyatt Ducharme and
Josh Bridge earned the assists. The
third Brussels goal came off the
stick of Bryce Armstrong, his first
of the season. TenPas and Colton
Hastings teamed to set up the play.
Skating in alone for his hattrick,
TenPas put the team up by four, then
a minute later Brock McLean, with
help from Anthony Vader and Sarah
Atoms tie Ripley
Dillon took the team into the second
period leading 5-0.
It was a different story after the
buzzer with no goals until the final
minute when Blyth lit the light.
The third period was a
McLean/TenPas onslaught,
however, with the pair combining
for five more goals. McLean
completed his hattrick then scored
two more, while TenPas bulged the
twine twice more.
Assists went to Mitchell
Kellington and Vader with two each,
Reece McArter, Hastings,
Armstrong and Bridge.
The results of the Blyth Bantams
last two games proves they are
playing hard and working well as a
team.
Nov. 10 the Bantams played a
great home game against Milverton
ending in a 4-4 tie.
Richard Gregg scored the first
goal during the first period as
Johnathon McDowell got the assist.
Another goal was scored in the
second period by Tony Bean with
Trevor McArter assisting.
The third period proved to be a
good one when the last two goals
were scored. Gregg and McDowell
each scored one as McArter assisted
both.
In a 6-1 victory over Wallace on
Nov. 17, the Bantams played another
great home game.
McDowell and McArter assisted
Derek Youngblut’s first goal of the
game during the first period.
Two more goals were scored
during the first period, one by
McDowell with McArter and Curtis
Robertson assisting and the second
by Thomas LeComte as John
Bokhout and Roman Sturzenegger
helped with the assists.
Blake Hesselwood scored in the
second period with Bean and
Bokhout assisting.
The last two goals were unassisted
by McDowell and Hesselwood
during the third period.
The Blyth Atoms travelled to
Ripley on Wednesday, Nov. 19 for
an incredible game which ended
deadlocked at 0-0. There was lots of
action and the big shutout was
earned by Adam Cronin, one of the
Bulldog goalies.
To repeat the same deal, the Atoms
squared off with Lucknow on
Saturday, Nov. 22 for a game that
ended with a score of 2-2. All
players committed to an ambitious
game with lots of good passing and
good skating.
Jamie Plaetzer scored the first goal
for Blyth in the second period with a
breakaway from the blue line. Not to
be outdone by his brother, Jeff
Plaetzer scored the second Blyth
goal in the third period, assisted by
Caleb Brohm.
There was a noteworthy effort by
Cody Kelly, who plays his position
by the net.
The excitement gets even better
when Blyth challenges Seaforth to a
game at the John Labatt Centre on
Friday, Nov. 28 in London before the
London Knights take on the Sarnia
Stings.
Juveniles conic up short
in ^ame against Clinton
The Blyth Juveniles seemed to be
making a come back during the few
minutes of their game against
Clinton on Nov. 21, unfortunately
the game came to a halt with only six
minutes left because of a time
curfew. Blyth lost 4-3.
Both teams were tied at 3-3 until
the third period when Clinton scored
with 8:17 on the clock.
Blyth’s first goal was scored by
Derek Cook assisted by Craig Marks
and Kyle Stevenson.
Micah Loder scored the second
goal, assisted by Neil Salverda and
Cook, while Scott Austin put the
third goal in the net, assisted
Tyler Campbell and Loder.

Midgets
settle
for tie
The Brussels Midgets put up a
good fight during their game against
Wingham on Nov. 20.
It was a close one until Nick
Campbell scored unassisted, with
2:56 left in the third period, tying it
5-5.
Only minutes into the first period,
Matt McClinchey scored the first
goal unassisted. The next three goals
didn’t come until the second period.
Brent Wheeler was next to score,
assisted by Cory Chapman.
Patrick Ruston assisted
McClinchey’s second goal while
Adam McLure scored the fourth
goal of the game assisted
Chapman and Greg Bowers.
PeeWee Locals meet
strong Wingham squad
The Blyth PeeWee Local League
suffered a big defeat when Wingham
blew into town and skated away with
a 10-1 victory.
The visitors worked offensively
and defensively to control the game
through two periods, took a six-goal
lead, while shutting down their
hosts.
Wingham added four more in the
third, while Blyth’s Dallas
Pennington finally got his team on
the board with five minutes
remaining in the game to spoil the
shufout. Mike McDowell earned the
assist.
